Add a module that fits in the main turret slot that enables a fireteam of extra space for transport in the HAV in exchange of having no primary turret.
Is good yes? |

Normally I would say yes,
However, CCP are kind of famous for putting in "temporary" things that end up being permanent.
A better solution would be an actual APC. A vehicle with one driver, one turret, and 6 passengers who automatically get re-armed and repaired while embarked.
If they do this, then it will likely delay the implementation of an actual APC. |

This is something I've actually brought up before. https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=29442
It was presented to the devs and they liked the idea I was told.
As for Traynor's remark, I disagree. I believe this could be the REAL APC for Dust. It's been done in real life with very good results. No reason to not use those examples. |

Better to just make a real APC vehicle. Even if they wanted to replace the large turret with a light turret on a HAV body, add more passenger slots and a CRU and call it done.
Edit:
From a programming perspective, and a balance perspective, I imagine it would be easier to do what I'm saying than make a module do that stuff. Also, we'd lose a module needed for tanking, reducing the effectiveness of the vehicle.
It's not a terrible idea, but I don't see it being a huge challenge taking existing vehicle models and tweaking them to work as an APC/Infantry Fighting Vehicle. Converting a RL tank into an APC is not a modular thing. They gut the tank to do this. It's not like changing out the missile on a jet for a bomb.
Also, taking guns away from pilots is not going to be popular for those who need to skill up and buy these vehicles, which the module seems to do. Every vehicle, imho, needs some level of pilot gun, or a complete overhaul on how pilots are rewarded and recognized with war points and SP. |
