The topic says most of it: a shooting range and possible training simulators (ie. training game mode) would be nice for the Merc Quarters.
As a horribly bad FPS player a shooting range to train in while waiting for a game would be awesome. Also it could be useful as a testing area for your new toys.
That is all. |

"Training simulators" would be useful for more than just all of us crappy shooters. Learning how to pilot the various vehicles, trying out / practicing with the various weapons - yes, including the knife - are what soldier / merc types do regularly IRL.
Since we're mercs, we'd pay the costs of the stuff we bring into the training room. There may be a queue to get into it (publicly accessible - once you lock into it), or it's a corp asset (paid for and maintained for ISKies). The biggest "drawback" to it is that you get no skill points, no war points and obviously only spend ISK/ Aurum while you're in there.
On the upside, we won't be learning how to drive LAVs by hacking them. ^__^ |

Agreed. I'd like to see something like this implemented. I got 5 dropships blown up before I realized how to get it off the ground >.> |

For sure. And maybe full sized skermish areas for Coporation training ranges? Let teams work together and test gear and equipment before steping out on the battle field and risking ISK... |

I would LOVE a random landscape to meet up with friends or just solo test stuff. It would be great not only for testing but to give a social hang out spot to develop commnity.
Deployable Shooting dummies that report damage taken would be a bonus. |

This is a great idea! I would love to be able to learn to drive some of the vehicles without having to call in during a fight. Also testing different suite layouts would be great. |

Sounds good to me. I'm not new to FSPs, but each game has it's own rules and equipment. Most games have a 'training' level with easy opponents so players came become accustomed with the controls and basic weaponry. Given the MMO nature of Dust such a level wouldn't work, but a training area would be great for Dust/FSP noobs to get their feet wet. |

Definitely support.
I'd also like it if EVE players could use a cloaky to scan an enemy planet and load the map into a training ground before fighting in the real map. Just throwing some meta-game spice into this already-great idea pie. now for a couple hours in the CCP oven, and we'll have a real treat! |

I support this.
A shooting range and a test-drive room big enough to pilot a fighter or a drop ship. Or at least a high-sec landscape where mercs can hang out with each other and test their weapons in a designated area. Either way would be nice. |

Great idea, just don't place it inside the merc quarters. I would add an option by the Battle Finder. |

I like the idea of the shooting range with dummies to report damage, and amount of damage. This is easily done in eve with so much empty space out there in space. A designated area would be nice in dust.
I could see stations/battle barge having indoor firing range somewhere, and vr vehicle driving from console in merc quarters. A larger planetside practice area could be a corp asset accessed by the battle finder.
I like the idea of covert ops frigates scanning the battle field for a dust corp, example of contract going from Dust to EvE? These frigates are relatively cheap and not that skill intensive by null sec standard, so scans could be contracted to these EvE players at an affordable price I think. Seems like a great link between the games, with little chance of breaking either.
