A few more things I'd like to add after getting in more play time.
1) Repair tool: first thing is that the obtaining and maintaining a lock is a little difficult. Don't know if this is due to the hit detection issues I've been seeing with most other weapons, but this needs to be more streamlined. I like that you can sprint while repping, but you can't start the repper mid-sprint. If you can sprint-rep, you should be able to start while sprinting. Also, if you're repairing someone, you ought to get a kill assist if they get a kill. If you were shooting the same target, you'd get an assist, you shouldn't lose out on points for helping your team. Lastly, it looks to me as though you get a repair bonus for every X number of points you repair on an individual vehicle/teammate/installation. I'd prefer to see the bonus given for cumulative repair amount, e.g. if I repair 150 damage between 3 teammates, I receive bonus, instead of having to repair that 150 to a single teammate to get the bonus. Since bonuses are different for players and vehicles/installations, track repair accumulation separately for each.
2) I'm going to agree with what a few other posters have said and request the removal of the KDR display at the end of each match. Not only is this an inaccurate reflection of player contribution in a team-based game like this, it will cause all of the CoD fanboys to focus on their KDR rather than helping the team. I propose instead that a point total be displayed at the end, ranking players by total points, with a second page giving a breakdown of how you earned your points.
3) A stats page accessible from the merc quarters. Of course it should have the usual stuff like total kills, repairs, captures, etc. but I'd also like to see a killmail-type feature (like EVE) displaying stats on each kill (suit type, equipment carried, and most importantly, total isk loss).
4) Nova knife. Nigh useless. Not because it isn't an insta-kill, but because you can't hit a damn thing with it. Hit detection is awful, even when I come up on a stationary player and bump right into them before swinging. I'd like to comment on how the damage is, but I've scored one, maybe two hits, so it's hard to say.
5) Damage direction indicator. This shows up when being shot by friendlies and taking no damage. More than once I've turned to face what turned out to be a friendly, only to be gunned down by the enemy I turned away from. I'm sure in the future, some battles will have FF off (which I'm all in favor of), but if a hit does no damage to you, the direction indicator shouldn't light up. Similarly, I shouldn't get a hit indicator when shooting a friendly unit if I'm doing no damage. This is particularly frustrating when I'm getting hit markers, but am too far away to detect if it is a friendly or enemy that I'm shooting. Makes for lots of wasted ammo.
6) Draw distance. Don't know if it's possible with current hardware limitations, but I'd like to see the draw distance increased. A few times I've tried to hit a far-off target with a sniper rifle or swarm launcher, and can't even see it, even if I know it's there (particularly atop the comm towers).
All I've got for now. More to follow. |
