Maxed out skills on a forge and a swarm launcher and I'm still not allowed to retaliate against vehicles due to them sitting beyond the draw distance camping the default spawn.
Could we possibly, please get an extended draw in range and the spawn point randomization given higher priority?
2 of 3 matches I played today wound up being dominated by vehicles sitting beyond AV weapon draw in range and raining missiles on the spawnpoint (yup, red-lined). I don't mind a good spawn camp, but when I am being camped (hell even when I'm doing the camping), I expect to be able to shoot back if I am lucky enough to survive spawning in.
I know the draw distance issue should be pretty easy - give the AV weapons (swarmer, forge) the same kind of draw in distance modifiers you give the small vehicle missile turrets. (speaking of which, can we have a shoulder fired one of THOSE for my heavy suit?)
As for the spawn point randomization......... you know it's broke, and I know you are working on it already. |

Ironically the issue isn't that small launchers have ANY sort of modifier... They can't see what they're shooting at either... The problem is someone on their team CAN see you, and thus your little red icon pops up on the screen with no character below it, and they shoot at the red arrows on their HUD to kill you... Since they orbit well above visual range no one can spot their dropship in the sky, so their icon doesn't pop up for forge gunners to shoot at, and as we all know swarm launchers only operate on lock on. However, you will notice when Forge Gunners get into a tower, they CAN rain hell down on tanks they can't see because the same principle applies and they can shoot at the icon when a tank is spotted by a team mate. In reality The best solution to these problems in my experience has been a very quiet un-intrusive scout dropship orbiting high above, and highlighting all these enemy dropships and tower nests...
However, once again even though this would be a dropship fulfilling a designed in game role (Namely scouting unreachable areas and deploying teams to handle them), it provides NO benefit whatsoever to that pilot because CCP built them with that sort of intent in mind, but didn't give them ANY rewards whatsoever for fulfilling their role, thus no one will do it, and no one should do it... Matter of fact I encourage all dropship pilots to continue to abuse dropships in ALL the wrong ways, and everyone else to continue to complain about it fervently so that all this problems are for certain solved in the next patch, because if they're not, I blame the community for not being loud enough, and the people telling others to stop complaining for hamstringing this game.
That all being said I agree one of two things needs to happen, A draw distance needs to be increased... OR a better idea would be to allow icons to appear at ANY distance like they did in the first build, and allow swarm launchers to lock onto vehicle ICONS not the actually vehicle model, and thus encouraging scouting while potentially giving swarms unlimited range... I would support just giving swarm long unlimited range, except I know for a fact if we did this people would start grabbing the wide angle Swarm launcher and camp a high spot in the map and just scan the emptiness looking for free locks, which in and of itself would be an abuse, thus I don't promote being able to lock something you can't see at all.... Further I can't promote the idea of unlimited draw ranges because I know what that would do to server loads... |

The spawn points should be already fixed in the next build upcoming this month. It takes time for updates to come to us because the builds Hardly Ever get any updates after they've been released (The maps being re-added and the return of the repair-tools after the build was released was just something sever sided). There are a few reasons for this including that they have to go through Sony and wait you have to wait unltil the PS-Store updates every week to get the update. Also CCP wants to do as much fixing as they can than add some more stuff than do more fixes and more fixes before releasing stuff because if there's a problem, us testers will rage too much. As for the draw distance, CCP is already aware of the issue so don't worry about it. They work harder than you think.

Shoot anyway, your forgegun will hit there even if you don't see it. Also if you know that the enemy will most likely try to base-camp, try getting a malitia dropship and fly up to a tower the blast away the vehicles when your team spots a deadly vehicle. If that doesn't work, try ramming your dropship into others. Have a decent malitia or better DS and have your gunners shoot at tanks to stop their shield regen and do damage.
There's tons of more ways that you can deal with the issue but it'll fill up too much space and ppl will be like TL;DR and my hands will get tired. |
