Factional Warfare
This feature is planned for launch in dust 514. Details are not entirely clear so most of this information is based on its space born cousin already existing in eve online. Do not take it up as prophecy, after all its beta.
Factional Warfare is a simplified system of conquest mode that is generated by non player corporations in which voulenteers take up the mission to bring that faction's war against thier enemies.
Current Factions are:
Amarr Empire with the 24th Imperial Crusade Caldari State with the State Protectorate Gallente Federation with the Federal Defence Union Minmatar Republic with the Tribal Liberation Force.
It should be noted that the number of factions along with the name of corproations may be different for dust 514 partipiants.
For example it may be possible the non empire factions (pirates) may possible join in as well being the
Sansha Nation Bloodraider Cult Angel Cartel Serpentis Coporation Mordu's Mercenaries Guristas Pirates
There are about 24 empire sized factions however of those listed these are the most aggressive of them as other factions are less likely to field entire armies such as the charitable Sisters of Eve, a nun group who's main forays of survival is charity, neutrality, and the fact they can call in a crud tonn of favors and let somone else do all their 'dirty work.'
When made availble, you can join any of four or more expected factions, despite your genetics or gear preference, provided you have decent standings with them. Joining a faction and fighting for them will lower that faction's enemies opinion of you and may deny you joining thier ranks later on. Repairing this standing could be a rather tedious effort that oftenly hurts another faction's standing in the process. Basically Unlike other games with reputation its impossible to be on everyone's very good side.
Also you should know that you or your player made corporation can voulenteer for any side of the factional warfare provided they are in good standings so if you like playing with your group and have plans on universal conquest later on this is the place to warm up and get ready for it. Do well in factional warfare and you'll have a better grasp of conquest mode in null sec.
For the most part its 2 vs 2 x 2 Amarr loyalist forces Typically Engage Minmatar loyalist forces Caldari loyalist forces Typically Engage Gallente loyalist forces
These factions generate missions to attack capture and help control bordering star systems. Its also possible to 'win' factional warfare by conquering all the opposing faction's space however its only ever been done once so far and the victory was short lived as the counter attack pushed back none the less all the partipicpants of that conquest received a medal for thier efforts.
When completing missions for the empire you are showered with isk and Loyalty Points. Loyalty Points are basically another currency that you can spend with that faction and its unique store. Also a new addium in that you can spend Loyalty Points in upgrading held systems, such as reducing costs of LP Store items boosting the quality of space by having better scanners pick them out ect ect.
Why Do Factional Warfare?
Although most I describe above is mostly space based planetary based Faction Warfare is only a battlefield difference away, with less NPCs and more players to oppose your efforts.
Expect to be able to do missions get isk, get LP, get access to the store and its rewards such as buying Caldari Special Forces Sniper Rifles, or Black Eagle Scout suits which is better than any item currently available on the market. Also for any territory your faction owns you benifit. Also friendly fire is on for this mode most likely.
So other things to expect is lack of control of what you do in districts its likely the faction npc will predetermine the best To put it in the simplest terms, this portion is very planetside 2 part in game style and conquest within dust 514 as you don't manage the buildings or upgrade and the line is pertty clearly drawn out.
Players in factional warfare are expected to be a cut above average so skills, teamwork, and tactics can have alot of fostering here making a breeding ground for hardened battleveterans so if you want to run with the big dogs here they are until conquest mode launches for 0.0.
Its also here you start tasting on how useless the thing you call a clan is going to be this place. This is the place where clans go to die, and become reborn as much more deadlier, a Mercenary Company. Where not only best players, gear, and skills make the cut, but trust, teamwork, moral, real charimsa start taking into play evolving and molding you into a soldier that has something worth fighting for.
Then once the mentality of the clan dies you then soon find your 50 odd people in a clan is suddenly no where near large enough and just to remain competitive you will try to recruit by the hundreds because your elite small group is not enough anymore, you need more people brining bullets to the front lines, watching your back, overwhelm the enemy and you certainly need more people to lead those more people.
Planetary Bonuses for controlling them also will benifit you as a player making your experince less mudane with constant grinding and waiting forever in matchmaking as the warzones are npc generate there is always an oppertunity to dive in and have fun and try to take a district from the enemy.
The rewards you get are also of very high quality its not surprising most allainces have corproations that farm the store to sell to thier non partipicating members at discount |

Reason why I call it a breeding ground.
0.0 Nullsec is very serious business, at that point you wont be a clan anymore once you get there, You'll be an army by then. |

Considering the politics that permeates throughout null-sec space, Dust Corporations will have to meet much greater demands including how they are managed, trained, logistics, etc. Null-sec is not something a newbie would want to be in. It's definitely not a walk in the park in terms of how things need to be run.
Oh its highly possible for a 'newbie' to get into null sec for the reasons you just stated. Because seriously when was the last time a game ever offered such an avenue. That your blood sweat and tears will have a long lasting impact more important than some stupid mining facility in middle of amarr nowhere? |

Changed the OP to emphasize how clans are going to die in factional warfare only to be reborn. |
