I'm an Alt
I'm making an alt this weekend, not only in anticipation of a new build soon, but also to do my beta testing part.
I realized that there was a lot of things for a brand new player to do before he pulls the trigger for the first time in DUST. You forget all the little things if you just focus on a single trip through the beginning game.
Also, this will give me a personal sense of how it feels to be brand new again vs mostly much more advanced characters. It will , hopefully, give some insight to my individual balance between gameplay skill and skill point total.
Lastly it will allow me an opportunity to focus a build. I tend to diversify in betas in order to get a broad view.
So, good to get a different perspective as a beta tester. |

The initial character building sequence feels clunky. This all may be just placeholder content pre-open beta build but I want to list it here for reference.
The choices I make in the character builder (race, house, combat focus) have a minor impact on what you are like right out of the box. And, as in EVE, this is a good thing. Because we love deep complex sandbox games. +1 ccp for the design. But it's a -1 ccp for the presentation.
Just needs more tie in to the new DUST mythos/backstory and the player needs to understand that, perhaps this is who they were before Mercification but where they go from here is.... everywhere.
I got in and reviewed the starting SP and ISK, about 2.4mill SP to start (with just over 2mil free to spend) and exactly 1mil ISK (and my left over few AUR from my PSN acct was there too).
Side note: When I started this thread I expected to see my main: Howard Sanchez. But when I opened the browser and signed into the beta forums this alt is my forum identity. Good job on the linkup CCP or Sony or the twain of you.
I habitually buy every militia item in the market and scroll through both my starting skills and the available skills. Doing this gives me practice and ideas of how I want to start out after wipes. |

I applaud this initiative.
Any attempt by the player base to help improve the game is exactly what a beta is all about.
Props to you sir. |
