Okay, so this is from what is called the "CSM minutes". For those who dont know, the CSM is made of elected players from EVE that kinda represents the vast EVE community.
http://community.eveonline.com/council/transcripts/2012/CSM_CCP_Meetings_May_June_2012.pdf
There's a part about the EVE\Dust link. Quite interesting about economy, 0.0, factionnal warfare, corporation etc... A must read i would say.
=> To devs and GM. I'm a bit worried about what you guys said regarding player corporation. Don't make the mistake of giving us a weak corp tool. For a lot of people, the extended clan support system from EVE is one of the big thing we expect for Dust !

Very interesting. FW is something that came around long after I left EVE so I'll be doing some research. But from the sound of it, I'd say that's exactly the mix that'll draw in MAG, CoD and BF3 players and get them hooked before making it a hell of a lot more complicated.
I like that direction CCP! I don't think I could've come up with a more elegant solution. |

I like that direction CCP! I don't think I could've come up with a more elegant solution. Yeah, I thought that was a pretty good play on their part. Plus, it might even offer them an avenue to get started on the War Barges and being able to use those. The issue of course of just throwing them in is that they fly through the same place we EVE players use, but you would figure that mercs in the employ of a faction would just be given a cyno in low orbit over the planet in question, eliminating the possibility of being jumped en-route by us. |

CCP have already stated (in FanFest I believe) that initially the war barges will be visible in EVE but EVE players will not be able to interact with them at all. CCP still have no idea how such an interaction mechanic would even work. What if you blow up a war barge with 1000 mercs on board? What happens to them? |

Not sure if you'd be getting that kind of player count, though. I mean, the MCCs will probably only hold a few hundred, and the artwork and screenshots shown so far make it clear that you get two of those per barge, so I imagine the count on a War Barge would only be double whatever the MCCs can carry. |

Where is that artwork? I've not yet seen anything connecting a MCC to a war barge. |

oups, sorry for the dupe.
Regarding war barges, they are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay bigger than MCCs. In fact, a war barge can stock a bunch of MCC in its hangar.
See this artworks from the war barges : it's the "MCC staging area" http://www.dust514-france.fr/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/lobby3.jpg
there's already 2 MCCs in it ^^ |

But still a war barge is a big ship so its slow in oving and aligning and warping will also be slow so catching one in low sec would be very easy but also what about its defences?

they'll have plenty of time to determine all this. At first, no interaction possible with the war barge. Thus, no problem ^^ |

There will be plenty of time for CCP and us to figure this out. |

There is also this choice bit:
CCP mentioned that in 0.0, the plan is for DUST actions to be additive to sov bonuses and not detrimental.
I.E. all the "we are going to burn XXXXX Alliance planets to the ground" won't happen. |

The most important thing that was said is there offering integrated squad support i.e. You can make a squad of friends and join matches as that squad.
And that they will be using a streamlined corp interface. Intitially when I read the notes and there like nah there wont be any player corps my response was: "Are you NUTZ!?"
But then when they said no there will be corps for dust they just wont be able to share members with eve I was like oh that makes sense.
I just hope they have some of the same recruitment tools that eve has. Players should be able to open the dust neo com click over to corps and the first tab they see is recruitment, where corps can put recruitment adds and requirements.
Thats something simple that will be a huge value add to the game. |
