Hey, Everyone
This might be the wrong section. As I was playing last weekend I kept hearing from a lot of people that we would get a new build in August and they would wipe the characters again. Is there any truth to that? I logged in this morning and didn't see an update and my character seems to be fine. I'm still happy just testing and enjoying the game, but if someone could set me straight that would be appreciated
Thanks |

i think the only official word is that there will be a wipe on launch and probably one in between that and the new build is coming out in aug weather its next week or in 3 weeks time we dont know
CCP are keeping us in the dark, as when they last promised something they failed and everyone was raging |

Speculation says for next weekend.
You'll have a character wipe before that. All skills, isk, etc gone, but you'll get the AUR you spent back.
I've also heard a rumor that we're keeping the SP we gained from beta events. |

Also, there's going to be a major update for EVE next week. We'll probably get our Dust update at the same time and have a properly set up link between EVE and Dust. |

Last I heard there will be no more character 'wipes' done. But they will do at least one more character reset before launch. If they choose to do more resets until then, well that's up to them. The diff between wipe and reset is that on a character reset you keep your character, but theyre stats and skills and stuff are reset to what they were at the start. |

I doubt it will be connected to EVE whilst it's still in the Beta Phase. |

thats a little bit of wishful thinking dont you think bro?
we dont even have grouping yet, why would they skip that and link us up to eve?
not to mention that the beta is still private i would think that they would wait for the public release before letting eve sink its claws into them.
the next update imho should contain more releases in the market, grouping, and newmaps/terrain generator. |

I was -pretty- sure they said that there wouldn't be anymore wipes until launch, since the only reason they did the wipe last time was to sync up our character names with the EVE ones, so they needed to clear all our accounts out first, since some players were just using their EVE names here. |

As one of the previous posts in this thread stated, there will be no more wipes. There will, however, be at least one resets. That means you can keep your face and name but say goodbye to your SP and assets. |

Alright well it seems we still have a little ways to go. THanks for the heads up and I got to no problem with them erasing SP and assets. Hope to see an update ASAP |

and to follow up with a quote from MiB:
Quote:Kay: A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it. Fifteen hundred years ago everybody knew the Earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everybody knew the Earth was flat, and fifteen minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on this planet. Imagine what you'll know tomorrow. |

Everything that is in next weeks EVE patch is in SISI (one of EVE's test servers). There is nothing DUST related in SISI at this time. |

The only thing I would expect going from a beta to a released game is perhaps conserving a name/character.
I totally expect everyone starts on the same grounds, with wiped SP and expect to see a "gold rush" of sorts of people evolving, getting together and going for their homes / territories.
Having the beta population to start with such a headstart could be damaging to the game in general, when the doors are open to the general public. |

Nah, hell no, beta players should get a title or a fancy (cosmetic) suit or something. But to let us keep our SP would make us WAY too much ahead of new players. |

If you've participated in every beta event this build, I think you'll be given a free scout and logi dropsuit BPO. That means unlimited run dropsuits.
I don't think they'll be much better than militia suits, though. |

Ok. this all the info. when the new build comes out there WILL be a character "reset" (which means wipe but you supposedly keep your character) something about being connected to "sisi" there will also be another weekend event(or maybe seeing as how no one got the SP and isk from last weekend will probably be that 1 mil sp and isk the week before the reset that will give you 1mil SP and 1mil isk AFTER the reset. |
