I would love to see rigging and attachments for guns, but I want something more than just the regular standard FPS stuff like sights, foregrips, and grenade launchers, I think this game can do better. How about: Anti-infantry stasis webifier launcher that slows down enemies for 3 seconds.
Drone-launcher attachment that sends 2 tiny flying drones to circle around an enemy to do shield damage by zapping the enemy.
Nanite launcher that fires a clouds of voracious nanites that eat through enemy armor.
No regular grenade launchers, they have to be interesting, like a plasma grenade launcher, or something like that.
I want to see weird interesting scifi stuff, not just boring old FPS stuff with a scifi skin on it. |

My take on gunsmith idea:
Keep the sp but to buy and use attachments for guns, you would have additional levels for that specific gun type, then you would have to level up the attachment skill (one level, and there's no skill book.) To use it. Also, you would have to get to a specific level with that gun type to use that attachment to keep noobs from getting all the good stuff fast. |

I think mos of the ideas here add way too much complexity to the game. if we're going to have something like a mod slot is shouldn't be more then one slot and the mods should work the same across the board. IE +5/10/20% Clip size / Max ammo / range / damage / fire rate
The trick to balance is to get the simple stuff in line first and then test around it and some of the proposed ideas don't take that into account and would cause mroe problems then its likely worth to either CCP or us as players. |

The thing is, the dropsuit customization is largely a more complex equivalent of gun/class customization in other games. Sure, gun customization typically has different effects on gameplay such as altering gun sights or adding underslung grenade launchers/shotguns, but it still is already a lot of customization. Adding more customization through a gunsmith style setup might be just too much complexity, as all the parts have to be balanced with consideration to the dropsuit modules that are already in the game, the parts all have to be put on the market, most weapons are not conventional (plasma shotgun, plasma assault rifle, railgun sniper rifle) and would therefore have different options for customization, and it adds even more complexity to fitting, which is already fairly complex.
While I would love gunsmith weapon customization, I think a weapon rig system would work far better. |
