Tanks need recoil for two reasons... The first reason is not so important- realism blah blah blah The second reason is so important that CCP must do it next patch- so it can be flown |

Really really really want to sit down a few CCP developers and show them what an actual railgun looks like.
Notice the almost non-existant recoil |

I understand the realism for recoil, but the missile turrets are clearly based on recoiless design, so the recoil should be minimal if not nonexistant. Railgun recoil isn't too bad as long as you hold L1, though I think the amount of recoil should be like that, regardless if you're holding L1 or not. |

dude.....in RL railguns have tremendous recoil....thats why we havent been able to efficiently mount on onto any kind of weapons platform yet.....
edit: sorry bout my tone, wasnt trying to be condescending |

I have a degree in engineering, I've taken my fair share of physics classes. I never said railguns should have no recoil, just that the current amount seems reasonable. |

This. Recoil is very noticeable if you are moving and shooting to the side, and extremely noticeable if you are on an incline (have the entire tank jar to the side and rock, forcing a re-aim). Missile Salvoes can still spin you if you are not careful. |

Lurch - it's not the fact that we can't mount them on any weapons systems, it's the fact that they tear themselves apart after ten shots or so. |

Those on spaceships shoot rounds at relativistic speeds, and while that would lead to nuclear fusion if fired in an atmosphere the ones on HAVs are still pretty damn fast. |

Actually... Compared to REAL projectiles I hate to point this out, but practically ALL projectiles in Dust are slow... Now in EVE they are fast, just not in dust.... Everything in dust is pretty slow in fact, but... I'm not saying its a bad thing, just a statement of fact. A real railgun wouldn't register in terms of visual perception, it would fire and be on target even if the target was a mile away, period. So the fact that there's ANY lag is ridiculous... The railgun shown in the linked video is one of the hypothetical designs intended to shoot 100 miles accurately someday... So... Gives you an idea of the difference of scale were talking about here... |

Starts dreaming of using the 5.6 kilometer/second missiles that I have in in EVE
Yeah... Things here do travel a smidge slower... But for good reason. |

it's the spam of the small missle turrets that gets me, maybe some kind of heat buildup to prevent constant spam of these ? |
