Need a headset, but really limited on budget. I did find a USB adapter for standard 3.5mm headsets for about 10 bucks at Walmart. Would this type of adapter work on a ps3 since its basically a sound card for USB ports for PC? It has the 3.5mm mic/sound jacks to USB. My next option is a Bluetooth headset for 30, but like I said, really tight budget. |

well, i hope you find what you need, try walmart is the only thing i can think of besides phone bluetooth headsets.
i spent a good month dreading having to go buy a headset until i realised i could just use the old phone headset i wasnt using anymore....its like the light just lit up all of a sudden. works great
edit: just google the stuff, you find answers for just about everything already answered on the topic instead of waiting here... |

Any USB headset should work fine as far as I know:

good luck, you may want to investigate the IRC thread in the DEV threads above. I suspect that most of the communication is going on in the IRC because the comms are currently glitched:

I don't know from personal experience about the IRC activity because my PS3 is not in a laptop friendly location. But I'm considering rigging something up, myself. Best of luck.

I've read several places the adapter works. Don't take my word for it though. |

I use a logitech USB adapter for my headset with the PS3, works great. But I have heard that not all USB adapters work with the ps3, so a little google research would be a good idea |

Thanks again for the tips. Guess I had a dumb moment and didn't think about Googling this. But apparently a lot of adapters work. Glad I did research cuz I would have been worried that gaming sound wasnt coming from the USB port. USB only works for chat. |

I know the OP said limited budget, but I just picked up a set of Turtle Beach P11s which usually run about 60 bucks, but they had them for 40.I hadn't planned on getting a new headset until Dust's official release, but I know that I'm probably not going to see them that low for a very long time,so I had to snatch them up.
My suggestion is to look around online to try to get the best possible product for the money that you are willing to spend. |
