Yes, AR's should be able to hit targets further away if the user is pulsing their shots. As the game is now, weapons are FAR LESS accurate than they are in real life, with the exception of the pistol.
AR's should have less range than a sniper (obviously), but should be able to hit targets ~300 meters away if you are controlling your shots. ~500 meters for single shot.
Snipers should be able to hit targets >1000 meters, although it shouldn't be easy at that range, unless the target is completely still.
SMG's in real life use hangun calibers, but are more accurate than handguns and do more damage because they have longer barrels(increases velocity) and butt stocks(stability), as well as a longer sight radius. The effective range of an SMG should be closer to what the AR's are currently capable of. 100 meters should be possible, with controlled fire(not bullseyes but still hitting the target.)
I haven't used the shotgun enough to know how close they are to the real thing. A real 12 gauge doesn't have the greatest range, slugs can hit at 100 meters but buckshot is much less. The damage within 10-15 meters with either ammunition is catastrophic.
Pistols are more dependent on the users skill since they have short barrels, no butt stock, and a short sight radius. Pistols have a max range of around 25 meters depending on the shooter(some users/pistols can exceed this). Typically past about 10 meters there is a significant accuracy dropoff unless you are using a revolver, .357 magnum and .44 magnum are capable of hitting targets further out due to velocity and really awesome triggers.
Now for the HMG, if you are going to have a mini gun in the game, it really needs to be overpowered. If the Forge gun is for vehicles, the HMG would be for infantry. It should not be accurate, but should have significant range and damage. A real minigun fires 7.62x51 NATO rounds. In civilian terms this is .308, a high powered rifle round. This is the same round that many snipers use, it is also commonly used in battle rifles such as the SCAR 17s and the M1A (aka M14, the modern variant would be the M1A SOCOM), as well as the FN FAL. The round itself is capable of >1000meter shots, depending on the firearm, it also penetrates almost any body armor.
It would make more sense to have a Light Machine Gun, capable of aiming down the sights with similar accuracy to an AR but drastically increased recoil and damage. With higher capacity and longer loading times. |
