Are we getting those in the full version or at lest on the bigger maps, because I saw them back when they were just showing small gameplay vids and i would love to pilot one. |

Look at the icon for the vehicle fitting menu on the table in your quarters. I'd say that with that, and the fact that they -showed- one being used back in 2009, they're an absolute certainty. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNhPig8inEY&feature=player_detailpage#t=4462s There's a picture of a Caldari one from that presentation. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNhPig8inEY&feature=player_detailpage#t=4919s And here's a clip of a Gallente one being called in and flown. Albeit briefly. Obviously he only had Piloting lvl I. |

That would say that both the jet-bike and fighter crowds are going to get what they're looking for. You'll also notice that we have most of what was shown in this demo, and some of the future features they've confirmed were already functional back then.
This video also serves as a good rebuttal to all those people saying that the visuals aren't going to improve before launch. This is a good example of how rough they looked before now. |

What will be the counter for these?
Swarm Launchers are slow to lock, they often collide into structure and can be avoided...and thats by slow moving Dropships. It would be one hell of a Sniper shot to take out a Jet pilot.
Even the Missile Installations have a slow firing time.
I dont mind being nuked by Mach 2...long as l have something to fight back with. |

EDIT: On a somewhat unrelated note, what about controls? I made a thread in the feedback section expressing my hope for more "professional" controls rather than something Starhawk style (and I love Starhawk btw), but I still want other opinions. |

That would do nicely.
EDIT EDIT: Starhawk let me down me after Warhawk...maybe for the jets they could offer the two flying options that Warhawk had[not a pilot but options are always welcome]. |

this game looked really good as far as gameplay is concerned it looks like ours so if this was in 2009 what was the hold up legal issues? but these make me sad we dont try this stuff out soooo many different things back in 2009 they didnt show this during the 2012 one
EDIT: really really cant wait for the release of full gameplay |

Given then winter EVE expansion is already confirmed to have an adjustment to Destroyers to support OB, I imagine that we'll be getting a Dust full release around that timeframe, which will probably be in December. Plenty of time for testing. |

The one thing I'm still curious about is how there isn't any gunship category or anything in that drop-down. It has me wondering if fighter aircraft are going to fill only that role, or be more similar to the light aircraft in Planetside which fill both the fighter and gunship role. I'd personally prefer to see two seperate vehicles, as those are vastly different roles, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Thoughts? |

if they add jet fighters they are going to need to ugrade the speed and missile smartitude on swarm launchers. maybe make a lower damage variant that is specially designed to take out jets. |

i'm firmly convinced that the dropships are the closest thing we're getting to an ac 130. if we're gonna get a gunship it should just be like a prototype dropship with four guns instead of 2 but with lower armor to make it more balanced. |

Exactly what I was saying in one of my previous posts. These vehicles are going to need a solid counter, even as I see them providing a nice, solid counter to HAVs so that everyone can stop complaining about them. |

As well, you have to keep in mind that adding new elements to an established franchise can always be dangerous, as it has the potential to upset the gameplay you're known for, and thereby alienate some of your players. Dust isn't even finished yet, and we still have quite a bit of testing left to do.
There's also the factor that based on what prices are being set to right now for the vehicles we currently have, I would imagine both of these assets would be prohibitively expensive, so you're very unlikely to see entire maps full of MTACs, or suicide jets. |

And there aren't any AURUM variants of vehicles, only modules, suits, and some weapons. While its true that anyone with enough money can throw around a lot of such assets, if they just keep losing because the other side blows them all away, they're only screwing themselves.
Any EVE players here familiar with 100MN afterburner Tengus? Most expensive kill I ever got in EVE was one of those, because we shot him down before he could accelerate. I've seen entire fleets of the damn things suffer the same fate. EVERY asset and tactic can and will be countered, and just like using nothing but Siege Tanks in Starcraft is stupid, so it will be with Dust and any asset you can think of.
Case in point, I had a match where the attacking team brought in 4 Marauders and fully manned them. They lost. We ran nothing but light, fast suits and dropships, and gunned them down whenever they hopped out of their HAVs to try and hack. |

If you want to sit in MTACs all day go back to KZ3.
I jest
I don't know I just thought this game would be a little bit more about skill and not another KZ3/BF3 clone. In KZ3 you would get blown up by an MTAC coming out of the spawn every time. It was sad and I fear the worst for dust. I have high hopes though. |

I'm not that worried about this, as it strikes me the same way as those Tengus do in EVE. With CRUs and gun emplacements both being called down by the commander wherever he wishes, you're likely to see CRUs being heavily defended, and since you can just throw down new ones anywhere you want, it'll be impossible to be spawncamped for long.
See, mechs can always be implemented badly. I don't know if you ever played Planetside, but I think that was the single worst implementation of mechs in an FPS in history. It was a one manned murder machine, tearing through tanks and infantry like they weren't even there, and you could either equip the thing with jump-jets, or a -secondary- turret for even -more- firepower. AND they had a shield that would deflect any large-caliber weapons, meaning you could only kill them with small-arms or cluster bombs from a Liberator, which is why the things had secondary turrets, so you could shoot down anyone that tried to kill you from the air.
tl;dr: OP as ****
One of my favorite games to play online right now is the Crysis total-conversion mod MechWarrior Living Legends. Unlike every other MechWarrior game, this one features combined assets from all aspects of the Battletech franchise, meaning that you can go stomping around in your giant war machine, but you never know when a dual cannon equipped tank might roll up behind you and blow you away. Or when a guy wearing Battle Armor is gonna jumpjet on top of your head and empty his autocannon into your cockpit.
Large games like this really appeal to me because of the combined-asset factor. In a real war, you have infantry on the ground, and every support asset imaginable. The MMOFPS is such an amazing hybrid because it allows hundreds of players to all engage in that shooter gameplay we all love, but on a scale that no other game can support. |

KZ3 failed cuz they took away alot of the things that made KZ2 great the new additions didnt really do that
taking away prob the best clan support a console game has had in kz2 for a glorified matchmaking in kz3? bad idea takin away the ability to mix and match classes? bad idea takin away tactician spawn nades? bad idea takin away the feel of kz2 to make kz3 more cod-ish? bad idea lowering the playercount from 32 to 24? bad idea making the marksman OP? bad idea
and besides KZ is a game that shouldnt of had the Exos tbh, jetpacks fine but Exos no KZ is an infantry based game tbh
DUST is different, its built for vehicle and infantry on bigger maps with a higher player count. MTACs for all we know could be just like how the Exo suits are done in Planetside 2 |

Also, the tactics introduced by having to deal with your enemy using these, and using them yourself really add to the experience. |

Given the sheer amount of cover all of our maps have, I'm not too worried about fighters overpowering anything infantry. They will also be absolutely useless for taking objectives, so there is that too. You can't exactly just "hop out" of one. |

I'm guessing they'll only be flyable by people in Pilot suits as well, which will likely only be able to fit a sidearm weapon at best, and be absolutely useless in combat. It'd be neat if they added that restriction to dropships as well. |

I would prefer Pilot Suits as a requirement for all cramped vehicles, honestly, so Fighters, HAVs and Dropships. This would also help cut down on randomers stealing vehicles from the original pilots. |

I wouldnt mind this keep bad people out of my dropship which i paid for with my blood sweat and tears and you better let me fly it so I can rain hell down on every one that gets in my way. |
