Currently ive tried using this with very little to almost no success as being a viable field weapon. Sure its nice to sit there and play the guessing game with the Interesting Mortar style sights. Id much prefer an active point to point system if i switch to zoom mode on this weapon, a line showing me roughly where the "charge" will land if i fire it. a little red line with an X to show where would be nice, plus increasing the splash damage of the nades fired and the ability to switch what i fire with it too, EMP, Gas/posion, Fire, Webber effect nades.
Cheers CCP for Dust514. |

I kinda like the graduated flip-up sight, myself. When in doubt, pick a landmark and go shooting with your mass driver in your own starting zone. use a rock or something else as an aiming stake and you'll find your aim improving - then go to different ranges and do the same with and without the flip sights.
This is one reason there have been threads requesting a training area and weapons range for mercs to get used to their weapons and how they handle. I think I am pretty good with them mostly because of the fps that i have spent most of my gaming career playing (PC Tribes series) and that is how I learned to aim mortars and grenade launchers - after a while you will hardly need the sights and can judge the trajectory on your own.
Sometimes the grenades are duds, but I think thats a code bug, myself. |

I have the Mass driver skilled all the way up including the proficiency and some light weapon skills. It takes alot of practice and ammo management to be able to know how it works along game. It is very effective in close quarters shooting from around corners and leading away, suppressing the enemy and groups of them when the splash can do so much indirectly. If you are in a far range on a perch and have a nano hive down, it becomes extremely destructive on groups not having to need the accuracy to pick them off with a sniper or assault rifle...but you need to have some awareness of how those line correspond in every distance if you can master that then you can shoot and duck out with alot of accuracy.
Completely useless when you first acquire the Mass driver but having also needed the nano hives for the mass driver gives an opportunity to enhance teamwork.
A unique weapon, comes in handy against low level tanks, dropships and 4 x 4's. The obvious fact that it is a grenade launcher should make you realize that it is a mobile suppressive support weapon that can handle its own in almost any situation. Should always have backup with you though, to much time spent reloading and getting ammo...always fit with the Logistical class. |
