I think to give more real the game, is to add a day/night cycle based in the server timer [something planets as faster cycle o slow]. (or other type cycle: very fast or fixed). I know is hard to develop this option to add a dynamic sky and terrain brightness but is more realistic.
In the case for other cycles (if in the future can create a owner battle can custom this or use the server time) -+ Very fast (a cycle 24 minutes for a full day) -+ Fixed (0:00 - 0:30 - 1:00...)
Please, -+can add this option (or extra) in the release? |

Would be interesting. I've seen some planetside 2 night fight videos and they are quite a sight. If we could get somethign similar in Dust it would be amazing. |

Day and night cycles are what I think make FPS games really enjoyable. It's just down right amazing being in a fight or running through the field and it slowly getting darker. CCP you should really do this because it would be really awesome to look up in the sky on a clear night and see the eve players fighting above us. |

if added i wonder if it will be a slow prcess ?
i sat and watch the plents revolve on there axis in eve so i dont see why they cant do it i could time the revolution of a planet and check the time frame
would be cool having the screen light up green at night as night vision kicks in or the use of touches added to the weapons and spot/search lights

From what I understand it will be based on the actual planet, not the game's clock. |

More like some ccp asked eve players and the majority of us told them we wanted the planet's properties to effect things like weather, temperature, gravity and the sorts and time of day. |

I know, is hard to based in the actual planet while unknow the part to deploy in the battlefield (i have think this before to post, but i never see or explain something point in the planet is located the battlefield. Now know why i have requested starting using the eve timer).
True, to based in the actual planet is epic real; but must declare who part in the planet starts the battlefield; know timer to cycle completly and moment to star gives light in these point and intensity and not forget the actual intensity. Is very complex this method, but requires very much. Is better to start a creating a dynamic cycle; adapting the brightness and sky.
Summarizing in short: I suggest for now to add this option using the eve time [to start the planet timer] (the speed day/night cycle corresponding in the planet). If is possible in the future to improve based in actual planet point. I gave the simple idea to start developing this request. In other words (to understand better): In EVE Online, the planet properities have already the full cycle named has "Orbit period". Only request to add other sky's; brightness and the starting timer to run the cycle, after this, the timer speed is based in this orbit planet. .
That's all, thanks to read. Hope you can help the developers to create this. |

I would really love a day and night cycle added to the game giving each planet a set day cycle time (not all planets have 24 hour days) would add alot of interesting elements and being able to choose to fight at dawn and dusk and see sun rise or set as you fight sounds awesome |

well last night i got really bored so timed the revolution of a gas giant and a storm planet
the gas planet did a reolution 1 every 30 minuites
the storm planet every 15 minuiets
think it must take into account the size of the planet too |

Now, if you wanna get really crazy: 1. Day/Night cycle depending on each planet's rotation period 2. Dynamic skybox* To clarify* *Allow a Dust player to look up and see the glorious internet spaceship action occuring in orbit, just like in the trailer.
Pretty sure that second one is impossible, but I can (wet) dream. |

Pretty sure that second one is impossible, but I can (wet) dream. Skybox based on the layout of stars in EVE, with rotational positioning based on the planet's location and angle? Shouldn't be too tough to manage.
Skybox that shows spaceships fighting when said combat is occuring in planetary orbit? Technically possible, but highly unlikely. |

They'd need one hell of a server infrastructure to handle something like that. |
