I feel the dropship pilots should have their own guns. If the tanks can have them I dont see why a dropship cant have them. Almost all combat planes have a pilot controlled gun!

And they should have as much PG/CPU and Shields/Armor as tanks! They need Narwahl horns and slurpee dispensers!
I could see there being a fixed forward gun if you got rid of the door gunners, but in the roll of a troop transport vehicle the door gunners are more useful for clearing a LZ. |

i like this idea. Small turrets only though. don't see why you couldn't add for the two extra slots. all the ships visual design needs is two ports facing forward, make it look like torpedo tube shadowing. that way it doesn't have to visually modify look for the type of small turret; and by doing that type of set-up it will allow for the Hud to remain stationary. Tactically this could help, as you transport squad to objective, and all of them drop out to capture, Pilot now no longer giant sitting duck, as he can stay over objective and provide some cover fire on his own. Might also eliminate some dropship crushing attacks. I belive it could be done, your visual representations of the diffrent ships could easily intergrate the small ports needed. Please think about this, one of the few valid ideas i've seen.  |

LAV's don't have main guns either, and I don't think they should.
Add another areal vehicle class that has a main weapon. Leave dropships to do what they are designed for - inserting and extracting 6 people at once and areal cover fire. |
