Currently in dust there seems to be a fair few light weapons compared to heavy ones wich only have 2, the Forge Gun (anti vehicle) and the Auto Cannon (anti infantry)
i'm making this thread to discuss ideas for future heavy weapons for dust. please add ideas and how they work.
my ideas:
(Anti infantry) Heavy Flame Thrower - Close range weapon that deals dmg to the enemy and also adds dot dmg (damage over time) basicly burns the target with low dmg for a few seconds even if they escape or after they killed you.
Advantages: useful to a heavy to take on multiple close range targets. Disadvantages: Due to it being a close range weapon , it leaves the heavy open to longer ranged weapons
(Anti Infantry) Heavy Saber gun - This gun is a close to mid range heavy weapon that shoots what would be visually similar to a lightning bolt, it is constant bolt that when hit's it's target will also jump and deal decreased dmg to additional nearby enemies that are in close proximity to your target.
Advantages: useful to a heavy on mid range bunched together targets as it has more range than the Heavy flame thrower Disadvantages: does less dmg than a Heavy flame thrower but has more range, more of a Heavy Support weapon

yeah i have, but as far as i know i cant guide the rockets mid flight, can't change there direction , im just guessing but maybe there will be some sort of electronic warfare in the game at some point which would remove someone locking on to you with a swarm launcher for a few seconds giving them time to escape. but thats just a guess. only suggested it as it was a really fun weapon to use. |

I want a flamethrower-like weapon, but I want it to be a plasma weapons. I want a lightning gun as well that does low damage, but damages multiple enemies.
The game's weapons so far are pretty bland and boring for a scifi shooter. something like a lightning gun and plasma flamethrower would really help alleviate this feeling. The laser rifles will help as well when they come.
I want these as light weapons though so everyone can use them. I don't think there needs to be more heavy only weapons. |

plasma flamethrower sounds good, and does actually make more sense than actual flames as some planets wont have oxygen to burn. maybe some kind of black hole weapon too. i agree i would like to see some strange weapon types in the future. |

Not quite a blackhole, but I had an idea for a weapon I posed earlier when I first posted about the lightning gun and plasma burner.
"Yan Jung (maybe made from reverse engineering scavenged technology from ruins) -A gravity gun that fires charged shots, and each shot will be a energy sphere that will pull in anyone that it hits directly (which traps them until the sphere disappears in 10 seconds), and slows the the movement of anyone moving away from it by pulling on them. I still don't support any more weapons being for heavy only (Except maybe an anti-material rifle). I think this game needs more interesting weapons, and those weapons need to be available for any dropsuit. |

A remote controlled missile as someone else mentioned would be interesting. Though I question how it could be given a limitation. But isn't the laser rifle we are getting effectively the anti material rifle you guys ask for? |

They're build to deal damage while tanking it from the enemy at the same time, that means they are supposed to act at the front line. Being able to take out enemies from the distance while still having a huge tank could easily unbalance the other drop suits in their combat roles. |

I like the idea of a Flame thrower and it should be a Heavy weapon, also the idea of a Heavy Laser like maybe a singularity cannon or something a Heavy could walk around with (heh everyone loves singularity cannons).
However my thoughts on what a Heavy should be is, capable of being on the front line drawing attention to them so a Flamethrower is bright, produces flames and draws a lot of attention! All eyes would draw to a flame throwing madman on the battlefield. as for long range I think best weapon would be something that has a single shot and long reload like a singularity cannon or RPG type device, High damage output but super long cool down. excellent for dropships, tanks and other vehicles on the field. |

I would like to see a plasma thrower for heavys and maybe a smaller version as a underbarrel if they ever add it. However I would like weapons in game to be pratical within the setting.
I think a player guide missile that could be called and guide would be useful. |
