You mean aerial bombardment or ground-air cannons?
They are coming, but I don't think we shall see them until we are better connected to dust ... last major update said that the current build is connected to the eve market, but they haven't turned on the switch yet it seems. |

... Dust doesn't have a "weapon of Winning"
The thing they showed at Eve Fest was aerial bombardment ... it's when you contract or have a eve player orbiting the planet, you give them a secure code so they are tied to your suits targeting system, then you target a location, giving the eve player coordinates, and they shoot down. That's the biggest weapon in Dust as of now, and it's not in the beta yet

That's the ground-air strike (not sure what they are gonna call it)
It won't be a one hit win but it will be a way to shoot out a enemies Eve support. Because of that, it'll also come out about the same time as the orbital bombardment will come out ... and that still seems to be a ways out
Until the Beta comes to a point where we can voice chat with eve players and can make/accept contracts, and the market is all tied together, we'll haft to wait. They won't be handheld weapons, they'll be more like conquered special bases ... you hack it, or own it, then the commander of the owning side can order the system to fire
We still don't know the finer details of how it'll all work, but it won't be a tank or hand held weapon or anything like that ... the best idea we have up to now is what they've shown in previous videos

Right at the end, you see the station sending out a huge energy blast to a orbiting Eve ship |

From my understanding its the scorched earth option, any district hit with this is ashed and both sides lose everything on the field. The defenders retain ownership.
It's not been confirmed, but it is a very popular idea ... Titans are powerful ships, but slow to move and only good at dealing damage to large, slow moving ships ... In the end, they are more used for performing jumps as a means of transport
But adding the ability to use them as a 1 hit win would be a nice balance ... Huge risk by bringing the titan out, slow to move into position ... but the benefit is a guarantied win for the Eve players contract and lest ISK cost in the end (depending if the contract in question has return of loses and damages cost, some Corp in Eve have this)
Even with that though, I highly doubt most eve players would risk a titan just for that ... but if it's their last moon for minerals ... hmm ... maybe? :P |
