Zion, you should talk to me in private. You're piecing together a group based on false assumptions of new eden and how dust will interact with it. It sort of makes these meetings meaningless. The initiative is amazing and I salute you for it but without proper information nearly all your thoughts and plans on what you want UniCon to be will crash and burn around you. You're trying to be a leader and a figurehead of a community you don't fully understand, and that can never end well.
I can help you there, and help you understand the universe you are getting into. Until then, I don't see much point in attending such meetings. I'm not trying to take a dump in your cheerios, just telling you how it is so you can avoid it! |

Don't take this the wrong way but if you're so knowledgable, why don't you get in on the conversation and educate us all at once? |

There were eve players on the live feed chat, talking eve / dust it's impact and how it could effect corps / alliances.
So I think if Zion was as far away from the mark as you are saying, by default you calling into question of the eve reps on the feed?
Opinions are like arse holes, everyone has one and are often full of ****. |

Im sorry TotalBreakage for not being present here and replying to you in time to participate, but don't worry Notes will be out soon and next next Meeting date. All in all it went super well and I'll have a post out sometime tomorrow.
J'Jor Da'Wg wrote:Reading the linked key notes, it seemed just like a bunch of recruitment ads...
Not hating, just gonna wait until there are more actual topics of interest on this one...
Best of luck though.
This first meet was like that and I apologize for it, we did out part to calm that down and focus purely on DUST as a game and the community as a whole. This is a meet much like the UN were anyone can participate. DUST UniCon is NOT a Corp or Alliance, it is an organization made by players for players.
Please visit DUSTUniCon.enjin.com and read our mission statment |

Glad I was able to attend. You have a good thing going here. I hope this will help pull players together a little bit more to help with developing this game. I know both sides feel very strong on their opinions, but I appreciated everyone's respect for each other. Keep up the good work Zion. Hope you can keep your sanity. |

Quote: MISSION STATEMENT: DUST UniCon or DUST514 Universal Conference is a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to creating awareness of, and appreciation for, DUST 514 and its related topics and community as a whole. Our goal is to help in bettering DUST 514 as a game from a playerGÇÖs level and to aid in establishing the longevity of DUST 514 within the EVE Universe.
Creating a community, which seems to be working pretty well. The only problem right now is that the NDA is limiting the topics that can be discussed. Gotta start somewhere and I appreciate the initiative being taken.

These meetings are to conduct NDA friendly insight for both new players and players who are interested in Dust/Eve but either cannot enter or are not interested in the gameplay style so much as the setting. Essentially what it boils down to is that players who are interested in Dust sometimes aren't interested in Eve because of Eve's tedious play-style which requires a great deal of patience and motivation by comparison of Dust's fast paced nature.
They are also to give updates on NDA friendly patch notes that have also been mentioned in blogs and expand on those by answering questions from the live feed and those within C3 itself.
However, what it all boils down to is this: it's the creation of a community that does not favor or have preference to one corporation/alliance over another. Corporations are permitted to introduce themselves by their representatives/CEOs and explain what their corporation is about - briefly - as to elaborate on their goals and ambitions. This is so that players who are in Dust and are interested in a corporation before the game is released can join them and have most of the complicated political aspects worked out -before- the release and can hit the ground running.
Further more, players like myself who are Eve pilots, can offer in depth experience and theories as to how things -might- work if they were emulated onto Dust via an Eve mechanic. One thing that was covered in depth was the discussion on Corporation management in Eve Online and how it may/may not work on a lesser scale to apply to console players who want a simplified version that reflects systems they're already used to - such as the clan support from Battlefield 3's Battlelog system.
Hope this helps.
