- Forums promote trolling - People post so much minutia that anyone who may want to post serious threads expect them to be buried
- Create a Bug/Enhancement List with statuses - If there is something to reference there won't be repeating threads about the same problem (see above)
- Improve your communication with the testers - The emails promote us coming on but since there isn't any way of finding out what/if anything has been improved it's just a crap shoot...
- List specific aspect of the game that Devs need feedback on - This will help us help you...
I know there is an updates list when the game loads but the font in the game is too small and doesn't render very well so it's a waste of time for some of us to read... |

I already suggested it once, but maybe I should do it again.
The whole thing should run like a Mindthread, which is similar to a Mindmap but incorporates a forum-like feature. Instead of the bulletin board style it starts with DUST as the main node, then we have nodes similar to the forums like general and Announcements, Tech and Suggestions.
Now people may start a node suggestion like "Balancing Issues of Assault Rifles" (just the title, no text). Now the other users might vote on the node to indicate the moderators that they find the topic useful or not. If the general opinion is positive towards opening up the node, or the devs like it, the node is spawned and any Tester is allowed to add his personal node to it which is exactly ONE Post where the OP and all the others can:
- share their opinion
- comment
- suggest
- report
- complain
The advantage will be that the spawning of topic nodes will be controlled and slightly delayed which will stop quite a lot of ranting and trolling as there is time to cool down the tempers. Addtitionally it would stop side topics being simply overrun by ten thousands of "NERF THis !*@!-º" threads. IF a player has an opinion he can look up the existing nodes ''(which is much faster than petitioning a new node, which could always fail) and add his personal opinion which can of course be edited as an opinion may change over time. If the topics isn't there yet, the player could just start a new node suggestion.
An additional feature would be to add your personal node with a node you like/support instead of the main "Balancing Issued of Assault Rifles" node (which will show that your opinion is covered by somebody else already and you support it). Another trick would be connecting nodes with red, blue and green lines (red being a dislike, green a like and blue a neutral connection - like piloting topics of LAVs and HAVs could be neutally connected)
Similar to a mind map this would quickly show positive and negative interconnectivity |

Yup, this is exactly what I'm talking about... Unfortunately they haven't listened to these suggestions, and this thread is already sliding down the list cause others are posting things that are not related to actual beta testing. Sorry but this game is NOWHERE near ready to be concerned with factions/clans/corps. Give us a place where we can stay on topic and it will be effective and productive. Otherwise there will be trolling... In fact when I get out of the game and I'm pissed and frustrated because of the state of the game, I'm gonna troll!!! |

Beware of the incoming troll! ;)
But seriously, this could be realised with existing Forum structures and some code lines in the posting routine to allow only one post per topic and member. |

Absolutely Seran, the base capabilities of the forum application fits these needs and with some tweaks to permissions, maybe an approval workflow behind the scenes so that threads need approval before they are available for reply's and walla!!! Then they build the structures and use stickys to give the posting guidlines. Not hard, they just need to be willing to put the effort out and help us help them. Not too much to ask for... |

I develop Enterprise Solutions for one of the largest transportation companies in the US... The standards I have to follow is MUCH higher and heavily regulated than any game company will ever be or have to be.
Now please stop turning this into a trolling war or that is all I will do instead of trying to be productive. |

Get it back up top since it appears that the GM & DEVs are looking past or ignoring the thread... This is why some of us troll, the only threads that get attention seem to be trolling and ass kissing. |

Wow... I guess when faced with a good idea that requires them to do something they would rather ignore the thread. The only reason they provide the forum must be so we can kiss their asses and tell them they have a good product. Unfortunately I won't and they don't so why should I or anyone else waste our time here. |

I know there is an updates list when the game loads but the font in the game is too small and doesn't render very well so it's a waste of time for some of us to read... Good constructive ideas. This is exactly the kind of discussions we need here on the forums. I agree with 2 and 3 but. Think 4 might get people too focused and cause some outlying issues to be missed. |

That's right. The Forum is for community purposes which of course include rants and trolling and all the other stuff. But a seperate way of streamlining the thoughts of the community and the Devs would be making it easier to keep track of everything.

Maybe there is somebody with an urge to create a test version of this on an own server?
Or does somebody know a free forum hosting service that allows this kind of user rights? |
