So I have both now and something does not feel right about the armor amplifiers here's what I have.
On my sagaris I have 3 25% amps and 3000 shield hp and on the surya I have 3 25% amps, a 14% dcu, and 5000 armor hp.
It seems to me that the surya is FAR more squishy than the Sagaris. So are the armor amps not working correctly? |

i have a sagaris and my friend has a madrugar... he has more HP total shield and armor than i do? then again, since i'm sagaris i dont equip armor stuff. he has equipped both. why does his lower level Gallente have more total HP than my higher level Caldari?
edit: i'm only trying to compare total HP of shield and armor combined. i do not know if one is stronger than the other. i do know that armor slows you down though. :) |

If you look at both marauders before you apply the fittings you will see they both have different shields and armor by default. So by applying one type of fitting to Surya .....the same fitting will have a different effect on sagaris. Everything is working as it should :) |

I believe that Armor reppers are slower than Shield boosters, so Armor generally gives higher Max HP. The Sagaris can run from a fight, boost, and be back on the field much quicker than the Surya can. Maybe this is why the Surya feels more squishy even though the Sagaris has less HP.
All I know is that when I'm in my Sagaris fighting the Surya, I often lose on a one on one fight. |

Could be that I think different weapons do different damage to shields and armor. Maybe the current AV weapons type does more damage to armor? |

At the moment, shield tanking has the advantage over armour tanking, because armour is harder to recharge than shields are. Keep the shields up most of the time, and you don't have to worry so much about losing armour. Also, not a lot of players are running remote reppers or repair tools. Repair Tools on infantry are more common, but they tend not to "waste" them on vehicles and instead focus on other infantry (not sure why).
If you build your Sagaris for armour tanking, the un-buffed shield stats are still more than enough to tank a Forge Gun hit or two before you have to worry about your armour. With a Surya, even a full Militia Swarm salvo will already be hitting your armour if you haven't buffed out your shields first, so you need to be ready to start repairing as soon as you come under fire. |
