Imagine I have a vita I bought a 'gauntlet' that keeps the vita on my wrist while I play dust and sync it to my PS3/PS4 I see the entire battlemap displayed. I quickly key in a button and hit a location on the map using the vita's touch screen. Bam instant marker down to defend that objective.
What other neat little simple things you want this co-play device on the gauntlet to perform as you play the main game. (Imagine if dust 514 ever ports to the wii-U as well) |

First, I hope Dust never ports to the WII-U. Gawd no.
Second, that PS Vita integration would be cool but a bit unfair. A Vita is more that just a cheap controller. It's a rather expensive console most people won't want to spend money on. So I don't think adding such cool functionality would be advisable right now.
What I do think would be cool (and could maybe bridge that price gap) would be to not only integrate with the PS Vita but also make an Android/iPhon app. One thing I would really like to have is the Neocom on my phone. If it could also do battle maps it would be awsome!
And BTW, strapping a phone to your wrist would be a LOT easier than strapping a Vita. |

Grit, I don't see it as being unfair. Eve players use tools that are outside the game limits to get ahead and there have been no problems. Eve Fitting Tool is one example in which players can download the program for free (google it) and use their current stats, skill levels, etc to determine what would be the best fitting before even having to spend a single isk buying the modules. Evemaps.dotlan.com is a browser based map that provides more intel on a given star system than what eve online provides including types of asteroids and types of station services available. Anyone with a second or third monitor or perhaps an android or some other smartphone can use these tools. And these are tools that are available to anyone. There are even browser based tools available to track and update jump bridge routes through outlaw space.
As you can see, such as tool as the vita will not be unfair to anyone. Besides, ccp even confirmed during the e3 press conference that the vita will also be able to let you place more orders for your drop suit modules. |

I am aware of the EVE tools and have even used some of them in the past. I even remember the EVE Fitting Tool in the days before CCP released the EVE API. God that was horrible to use. But the point is that all these tools do not require you to spend any more money on buy additional (and expensive) equipment. EVE is played on a PC. That is the minimum requirment for any of those tools. Nobody has to buy an additional PC just to use them. And anyway, these tools are not provided by CCP themselves and are not supported by them.
As for what CCP confirmed, all they said was that the PS Vita will have a Neocom application. I don't recall any further details as to what it could do. What I think is quite clear is the diffrence between the Neocom and the TacNet (which we all fight in). Nobody has confirmed anything about the TacNet being available for PS Vita. |
