They aren't really confusing. L1 goes up and L2 goes down and you use the analog sticks to steer |

Pretty sure left stick controls ALL movement - up, down, left, right. Right stick turns and looks up and down.
I could be wrong, it's been a week since I last flew one.
Also, I hope when we get control remapping we can remap the different types of vehicle controls independently. |

Is this so hard to figure out? A DS3 only has so many buttons, I figured out the controls quite easily. |

I've been seeing remarks about this control method a lot. Everyone's staying L1 goes up and R1 goes down but I don't think this is true. I've also done extensive experiments on this.
What I think is this. L1 does indeed go up (using the button as a controller an finger breaking analog control). As for going down, I think dropships have a constant downward motion just due to gravity. Pressing R1 (no matter how hard I pressed) doesn't accelerate that in any way. The only way I'm managed to go down fast is by spiraling down at full speed. Going full throttle forward moves the engines to an almost backwards angle which leave very little force to push the dropship up so it falls faster. I think R1 is reserved for future flying vehicles that have pilot-operated weapons.
Have any other pilots tried this? |

L1 turns your thrusters on - acceleration (up as to say depending which way you have your thrusters pointed)
the dropship does do a slow decent when hovering (i.e gravity) but holding...
L2 will give you an increased descent in altitude.
Left Analogue Stick controls your forward, back, bank left bank right motions.
Right Analogue Stick is for rotating the camera, to view around, when you let go it will return to front view.
To climb altitude faster, take a look at where your thrusters are pointing, have them facing down, you climb faster. i.e: press L1, thrusters pointed down, you go up...... press L1, thrusters pointed back for forward motion (Left analogue forward) gives you a quick forward movement.
As anything, if you want to make quick turns, let go of L1... turn Left analogue.... Press L1 once you have new direction wanted, zoom off in that direction. i.e want to do a 180-¦ turn... let go of L1, turn the ship 180-¦, press L1.
If you keep holding L1 (thrusters) while moving around and turning you will only make long wide turns.

I have two issues/questions about this.
- Can you 100% confirm that R1 actually causes you to lose altitude faster? I've tested this a lot (and pressed it hard like the L1 needs to be pressed for fast climbing) but nothing happened. I just kept slightly dropping due to gravity.
- About letting go of L1 for fast turns. While this will indeed allow you to turn the dropship faster, your overall vector will still be in the original direction so be careful. Don't try sharp turns while speeding towards a wall. You'll just crash into it with your side.

No R1 does nothing for a drop ship, it is L2 under the L1 button that makes you descend. That is how a Dropship can squish someone quickly when they are under foot. So like posted above L1 go up, L2 go down.
As for the controls i would suggest getting the one you are supplied and play with it so you can get used to piloting it |

OK, I must be losing my mind. Looking at it all now I see that everyone (at least in this thread) wrote about L1 and L2 but I somehow read it L1 and R1.
Just imagine the look on my face now... |
