I just thought Id bring up this topic.
I would strongly recommend, come launch to not have corp and clan names in your name, corps have tickers and when corps are implanted it will be obvious which corp you are in. The problem with having a name with a corp name or abbreviation can be possibly awkward.
The thing i have learned from eve online is that nothing lasts forever. A lot can happen with corps that can cause loyalty to be questioned, morality swayed, members bought off. New Eden is a slimy place and you may not always want to roll with the same people or even that corp can be possibly ripped to shreds.
Corps change, evolve, merge and die. Once you create a character that name is permanent, and if you play long enough on that character I'm sure you wouldn't want to make a character from scratch because of a poor choice in name.
simply food for thought. |

Have to agree... It's like getting a tatoo with your Partner's name.
The sentiment is admirable, but 1 arguement can leave you with egg on your face. |

the ting is this, currently you may see this with characters since we are lacking a party system and there will be future character wipes. The only reason I see this being done is so that you are able to recognize your corp mates on the battlefield. And also so those that we conquer recognize and fear our corp.
Just food for thought.

The devs have said that they are going to attempt to avoid anymore full character wipes. The reason for the last full wipe was because some characters had names identical to existing eve characters. The hope is that everyone will be able to keep their current name after release, although we will of course have all of our assets and SP wiped at release, if not before then. |

+1 for Jenza's advice. Your corp and alliance should be easily identified once those are added to the game and loyalties tend to change at least a few times during a career. |

I'm greatly looking forward to the whine threads that will come up regularly as these losers find out that CCP has a very strict renaming policy.
Basically if you ask them to change a name that isn't against the TOS, they just tell you to **** off. |

So basically, you're saying that Corporation tags need to be separate from the character names, but also shown with them when you're in-game?
Sounds legit. |

what i am saying is that choosing to have your name with your corp abrev in it is unwise when you will be unable to change it later, especially in a game like this.
Im sure that CCP will make it obvious what corp you are in. |

Would you put your corp tags in your EVE name?
Anyone with corp tags in their name will be a laughingstock in DUST. |

well said that said there are some truly loyal players that will never leave their corp clans coming from past games bringing their core rosters into DUST wont really have much loyalty issues tbh so u tend to find its those players who put it in their names not ppl that they picked up from DUST but long time members |

Imagine someone in EVE with the alliance tag BoB in their name.
I could leave it at that, as it is a perfect example of how even the loyal members still in Kenzoku would be fail. And DUST will not be about leaderboards and staged 'fights' between clans, the wars will be real wars where **** happens.
Cultivate your friends, not a clan tag, cause in a few years you'll be spread all over New Eden sometimes fighting with them sometimes against them. And if you know you can trust them they are the most valuable asset in EVE.
E.g. there are two people I would trust to handle my whole net worth (stinking rich net worth), a handful I trust to handle sizable sums (that they usually make in 2-3 years of play), etc. Those kinds of friends are what opens doors to interesting gameplay. |
