I was wondering is it possible to kill someone by landing on them whilst using inertia ability? It would be pretty awesome if you could and i dont see any problems with haing that included in the game. I came close on communications ambush game which is what got me thinking.
Without a doubt its hard to do but the satisfaction from it would be immense! Actually, a little cutscene type fatal kill cam would be even better to go with it!
Is this too much to ask??!! |

lol yeah that would be nearly impossible, I landed on a tank once my damn luck I wasn't alive much longer after that |

Few of us have been attempting this for ages trying to kill our own corp mates on the other team. I swear its impossible but dam it would be cool.
Anyone done it? cos well we suck at skydiving it seems.

You know what inertial damping is? You'd land on the guys head light as a feather. No kill. |

it would remove MOST of a normal impact's damage but not all most other sci fi of the same type theres some sort of crater or damage done from around impact zone. |

It's possible but remarkably unlikely to kill someone by falling on them. If you use the inertial canceler there is no fall damage for either party, but a moderately tanked assault suit will lose like 12% of their shield whereas the person falling on them from max height will lose all their shield and have like 40% armor left if you fall without using the canceler |

No inertial dampeners are scifi bs. Like shields which stop kinetic projectiles and energy based attacks. Science fact says "nah, your talking bs" while scifi say "we don't need physics, we've got lasers!!!"

I would love to see damage implemented with the ID,like it is on Starhawk.

I've had friends do this, with many failed attempts to even land on someone.
But you can NOT currently dampen and kill someone. You do a very little bounce off their head.
Is fun to do though |

I'd much prefer them be removed for a gradual decrease in speed from rocket boots or something similar which auto activate at 15-30m. Pick up too much speed and even they won't stop you going splat. Being able to fire on your decent would be cool. I know EvE tries to be fairly scientifically minded. Current parachutes have some major advantages over our inertial dampening IMHO.

I've landed on tanks and dropships several times. Does no damage. And the same dropship I did it to was taking visible damage from my SMG while I surfed on it for a few seconds before jumping, so it SHOULD have been visible if it got hurt by my fall.
I'm PRETTY sure it won't hurt infantry any more than that. |

Maybe the kinetic energy build up by falling is converted and used to recharge the power pack for the dampener? You would still get some waste heat or other leakage (go go law of thermodynamics), but perhaps not enough to do any damage to whatever you land on. |

I can confirm that people do not die when landed on like this. Actually, the inertial dampener is running longer while "sliding" off the player you landed on, giving him ample time to figure out there is someone to kill...and do it. |
