Basically you have 1 unarmed "VIP" that the team needs to escort from point A to point B. (or more points) You have an equal amount of defenders and "assassins" that try to kill the VIP. Nothing else matters but survival of the VIP.
For Dust, this could be a special weapons scientist, a "briefcase" or a kidnap victim. Anything that needs to be escorted.
Here's more info on the game type for Team Fortress:

An interesting concept, but I don't really think that it will fit in with the concept that this game is aiming for.
All of the games are most likely going to be based around land acquisition. Also you have to bear in mind that when Orbital Bombardment is introduced, then matches of this nature will be short lived indeed. |

A similar idea might be the delivery of a technical package that results in the destruction or capture of a planetary asset. So its not that bad an idea.
Maybe the the dusters have to escort a specialist drone?
I do like this idea. Pure Red vrs Blu gets old. This is why more game modes and environments will be good for the sandbox. |

Well since the game is going to have arena type matches I guess it would work there. |

I'm in favour of this. Personally I wouldn't mind if a lot of really cool match types from other FPS games were imported. Certainly the thrust of development favours Skirmish, but having stuff like Hunted, or Payload, or UT 2004's Assault game mode, etc, they'd be pretty fun additions to help give gameplay even more variety. |

They wouldn't even have to be unarmed. You could use a skirmish map and start with the defending team having one player marked as "Outpost Commander". This person has to go to location A to input a code. Then once it is input , he would go to the next location. So on and so forth. If you don't protect him he can't input the codes. If the codes don't get put in MCC takes out post. You input codes and it triggers a strike blowing up the MCC.
They could make it so the Outpost Commander can only see the location, and all the other players have the Outpost Commander highlighted on screen. The enemies would know who the commander is also. |

Playing the unarmed "hunted", it gives you a whole other feel to things when you're unarmed and super fragile. It's not quite the same game if they can be a heavy, armed with forge cannon. Either could work, but I prefer unarmed and squishy. :)
It definitely wouldn't be a normal "conquer the zone" kind of game, but I could see it fitting the style of game if it was about a defecting scientist or stealing blueprints or something.
Other game modes like those from UT would also be welcome. |
