I'll just flat out admit it. I suck at killing and no matter how hard I try, the other guy always fills me up with lead (plasma?) first.
Do you guys and gals have any advice on how to improve my general aiming disorder? I'm sure I'm doing something basic wrong. |

never run straight at someone, keep moving, make your movements unpredictable. If you see someone shooting in a certain direction before he sees you. flank him and take him out from behind. |

depending on how you have your controller set, i found dropping sensitivity a little bit and getting a lower ROF assault rifle helped me improve my KDR a bit. also do not use sights if they are less then 30-40 meters away, the turn speed using sights is to crippled to track most suits accurately. |

A really important tip is to aim with the left stick as much as the right. I.e get your shot at the right height using "aim" then wiggle left an right until the guy dies or you have to reload. Oh and just because you are shooting someone, don't run towards them. |

Server lag is often the biggest problem in hitting your target. make sure all your ports are open.
Beyond that, learn to lead your target, helps alot. |

There is something wrong with the aim system on this game, but for the life of me I can't work out what exactly it is. I know you have to tune yourself into any new aiming system you use, and that you do get better with practice, it still feels wrong to me though. |

Lower your sensitivity down.
Too many people think that they need "MAX SENSITIVITY SO THEY CAN TURN ON PEOPLE OMGZ."
It takes great discipline to be able to manage that speed though. Lets be honest, if you get caught from behind, you deserve to die. Lower your aiming sensitivity to about 36 or 30. Start to feel out how the reticule moves on the screen and the pressure you need from your thumbs to move a desired distance. Then start ticking up the sensitivity to where you find it comfortable.
Make large aiming adjustments with the right thumbstick and small adjustments with the left thumbstick.

I think it'll be more to allow you full features in non-combat parts of Dust like Neocom or terrain management. Maybe even making battle plans and schematics. I somehow doubt it'll be utilized as an actual combat controller. Time will tell though.
I'm pretty sure however that I won't be using KB/M as a PS3 controller just because it seems silly to me. If I wanted KB/M I'd go to the computer. |

Make large aiming adjustments with the right thumbstick and small adjustments with the left thumbstick. I'm used to high sensitivity when I'm playing shooters, and on Max in a Scout suit, I still feel slower than I'd like.
But lowering sensitivity is good advice if someone's struggling to aim.
I'm surprised that nobody's mentioned you need to lead your targets though. The game doesn't use hitscan, so when you fire, the bullets/plasma/whatever have travel time. In the case of most weapons, it's pretty fast, but if the target's moving and you're lined up right on them, you're going to miss. Aim where they WILL BE, not where they ARE. |

The problem a lot of people have is that we are shooting from the hip. There is some aim-assist once you get the cross-hairs over the enemy, but it's not a whole lot and it's buggy right now (thus the beta).
Aim with both sticks. Buecause when you move, you can also aim, you can use both sticks to make aiming adjustments. Right stick for big ones, left one for smaller ones. And unless the target is standing still, don't fire were they are, but were they will be.
Try turning aim sensitivity down. Start low (30-40ish) and work your way up to a spot your comfortable with.
Fire in bursts. A lot of people make the mistake of trying to emty a clip all in one shot. It will give you a bit more control of your weapon. Beacuse of the recoil and them moving around (presumably), your gun is going to go further up the longer you hold down fire. Will also help you conserve ammo.
If you are using the "Basic" loadouts (the ones auto-given to you), try buying a new Dropsuit (non-militia). So if you are 90% of time using Assault, buy an Assault Dropsuit. Yeah you'll have to buy consumables (1 used each time to re-spawn with the Dropsuit), but it will get you into some better gear. Also, start buying outside the Militia gear / weapons. You will see quite an improvement. Start with a Breach (Higher rate of fire) or Tactical (lower rate of fire so less kick-back) Assault riffle. You will notice a difference in damage done and quickly see why people get so $@%##$% when they are killed my a militia weapon. I've never had a situation where I used my Loadouts the entire match, and not made back the ISK to resupply + some.
You also might just be going up against someone more armored than you in which case you just need more penetration power, or avoid them better.

I think the assault rifle scoped sensitivity is way too high in proportion to the unscoped sensitivity. I tried Section 8 Prejudice, which has a very similar scope style, and I had no problem. The difference was the proportional sensitivity while scoped. |
