I know this topic has been discussed, but I do believe they could use something. I know afterburner will be coming so that will help. Perhaps maybe not so much as a defense on the drop ships as maybe an alteration to swarm launchers. I'm not talking nerf, just an adjustment. As it stands, from what I have seen being a pilot and a swarm op, the missiles seem to follow clear across the map, regardless of what the pilot does. You can launch from your respective base and the pilot can fly all the way back to their base and still get hit. Perhaps maybe put a flight time on the missiles, as in EVE. If after so much flight time without hitting their target, they self detonate. This doesn't take away from the damage done, and still gives the pilots a chance to get out safely.
Also, I do agree with other posters on drop ship destruction. When destroyed, the ship shouldn't just fall from the sky when destroyed and allow the passengers time to jump. Again, being on both sides of this, tis robs the swarm op from rightful kill points. |

Counter-measures perhaps? |

Counter-measures would be nice but missiles still need a limited flight time. Those buggers can fly forever. Even a real-life RPG has a self destruct range of 950 meters. A Stinger missile will self destruct after a while too. |

Chaff would be a nice addition. We have it so 60 000 years in to the future they should have something like drones to intercept the missiles. |

yeh flares would be good but do i only have the feeling that the swarms losing damage over range? Cause after i fly accross the map and then git hit by swarms doesnt feel like if i would take much damage. |

A good dropship pilot would be able to outfly a swarm launch every time. Its the forge guns that screw up dropships faster than anything. |

I see the roles of dropships being hugely distorted at the moment. For now, they are the only vehicles which can travel in the air, which means they're used as air support.
IF CCP gets round to putting jets in, I can see dropships taking on a functionality limited to transporting troops. In which case, they don't particularly need to worry about swarm launchers, as even a militia dropship takes two swarms to be taken out. On top of that, you have shield booster....
In short, I don't think flares are needed as a dropship only needs to tank one or two swarms as it flies past. |

I thought the destruction of the dropship alone were enough points? In Eve Online, pilots lose their ships but they still get away in their pods as soon as they see their ships are about to go down. I guess Eve players have been depriving other Eve players of "rightful" points by simply not letting themselves get podded. Gee, I wonder why.
Although, you are right about the missile time. Kind of silly that swarm launcher missiles have an unlimited supply of rocket fuel. |

I think it should stop working and then blow up if it keeps taking damage before hitting the ground, the way it works now. But I will agree, it takes a lot of damage after its been shutdown. |

I forget what they're called, but the defensive missiles from EVE (which nobody uses) could be added. |

They're called Defender Missiles. But even the Eve players hardly use those. They found it more effective to tank the damage than just fit them. |
