Nobody's played DUST yet. We've only played the beta, which isn't the final product.

Also, still haven't played EVE. I don't have a PC capable of running it competently.

The first part was me being deliberately obtuse. The second part was a legitimate answer to the question.

I played briefly just after titans were released. Didn't like it.
Got into Dust beta, experienced the "standard" fu FPS player attitude. Everyone said "learn about new Eden". So I got a 14day trial again.
EvE is still terrible from my view. Asteroids don't block bullets/lasers. You can shoot through your own ship. and te people who keep the game running get slated. Honestly, EvE is a mining game. Those miners do not get the credit due. Thu just get called carebears lol. The people who say "backstabbing is integral" you hold the game back. Loyalty is essential. Even goons demand loyalty.
EvE is a terrible space sim but a good MMO. Freelancer was/is better. Homeworld was better. But neither was a pay to play MMO.

Tried EVE, Multiple times. Love the Metaggame aspect but the fact is, the moment to moment gameplay is boring as hell. I'll Just wait for Infinity:The Quest For Earth to come out.

If it comes out. It looked great in 2006, it has been 6 years in development so far.

Same here. A year ago I heard about Dust and decided to start an EVE account in preparation for Dust. And the same goes for a few of my Clan and Alliance mates.

I love EVE, and am well estabilished there already.

That allows me to not play it, as in, I play other games and have my comms open. If PVP happens, i quicly log in. Kill and die, and am happy with it lol.

I have been playing Eve online since 2008.
I recently sold my main, who was able to fly almost every cap ship properly, and started two new characters. Both of them im training for PvP and maybe some industry thrown in.

I tried EVE sometime about five or six years ago now, but unfortunetly at that point in time I was busy and preoccupied with other matters, and shortly after that I found as an adult in this world I do not have the disposable funds to afford all of the games I would like to play. Especcialy in the case of subscription based gaming. I'm lucky I can game at all really. Smart shopping, sales means I can play some games. I do wish I could afford to expend such luxury funds, but I cannot.

EVE has a entry barrier most people dont overcome. Not that its hard, I dont think it is, but the starting moments are boring as hell. As a new player you do little isk, and have to activelly seek what to do, it wont grab your hand.

I did a lot of research on it, and had already tried it plus the beta like 4 times before actually comiting to it.

If anyone want to try it, here is how I managed to "grow", playing it with my style.

When new, do missions. Dont botther with mining and commerce unless its your thing, and even then you want to do missions since the return is faster and will allow you to build up capital.

Focus in one role. PVP is great, but to sustain it you will need to do ratting. So focus in PVE first. Most skills are useful to both roles, but missile boats are great for PVE and the "Drake" should be your 1st target. Its also widely used in PVP, so you can "fit" right in before diversificating into another boat types.

"Avoid" level 5 skills. Level 5's are great, but focus in level 4 skills first, they come rather quickly. After you have all the major ones in 4, and you have a good cash flow, start rouding up the character to level 5's.

After you have tank in level 4, and dps in level 4, and can make enough money to replace consistently any given ship class, start looking into PVP.

Before joining a CORP, play soloand use the Help and NPC Corp channel for any doubts. Understand the game and try to get to battlecruisers. After that, where you cannot learn anything new, and can really contribute, seek out CORPS.

Have no CORP loyalty. At the begining, dont stick to a CORP unless they deserve it. Dont be afraid of jumping out and seek another CORP. Theres a lot of trash CORPS out there, if it sucks, bail out, dont waste time.

Overall, focus. Be one thing at a time, over the long run you will start accumulating roles. Dont try it all, wasting time.

You may agree, you may not, but to me this "rules" worked great.
