This is always a question. A question with many, many answers, suggestions, and opinions. What I noticed after some thought and deliberation was something that even EVE has, but alas Dust does not. Hopefully soon Dust will be able to forever etch upon our memories a special unforgettable experience that will not only empower us Dusters, but fill us with a sense of immortality they lead us Templars to believe. A sense that will forever ingrain itself into the universe and the very fabric of time. A unique and powerful experience.
I'll show you and let you remember!
KILLZONEEVEComand & Conquer: Red Alert 2Comand & Conquer: Red Alert 3StarcraftFalloutFallout 3 KILLZONE3 Of course there other various games that have done this well, but I feel Dust needs one too. To forever set itself in the stone of eternity and forevr be remembered. Whether games have unforgettable music, or visual intros you remember them for the rest of your lives. Dust needs this.
I hope other's can agree on this as well.
Edit:
Added more awsome openings. Come'on you know enjoyed that last one. Had to had a laugh. As I pointed out though many games have done this, and it works wonders. |

They need to perhaps showcase the four factions? Some EVE war clips and some amazing combat clips with atmosphere drops. Then end it with an orbital bombardment white out fade to the title menu. |

I could get into that, but yeah CCP really needs to put something upfront at some point here and really make people want to play as soon as they log-in. Something to immerse them! |

I agree. Sounds dumb but a decent intro really helps any game. You know my biggest disappointment with MW2? It wasn't the tactical nuke or the quickscoping. It was the fact tere was no intro! None at all! Where was the war torn vet, telling me "50,000 people used to live here. Now it's a ghost town." So superficial and so important.
While we're on the topic here's a little speech from MGS4's intro:
War has changed. It's no longer about nations, ideologies or ethnicity. It's an endless series of proxy battles, fought by mercenaries and machines. War, and its consumption of life, has become a well-oiled machine. War has changed. ID tagged soldiers carry ID tagged weapons, use ID tagged gear. Nanomachines inside their bodies enhance and regulate their abilities. Genetic control. Information control. Emotion control. Battlefield control. Everything is monitored, and kept under control. War has changed. The age of deterrence has become the age of control. All in the name of averting catastrophe from weapons of mass destruction. And he who controls the battlefield, controls history. War has changed. When the battlefield is under total control, war... becomes routine
Rather fitting with Dust (we put it on over a mates the other day and were like "hey, dust should start with this!") |

Plus one to you, sir!
That is and was an awsome speech. I remember that back in Metal Gear: Solid4. I won't comment on the rest of the side games to Metal Gear, but even considering the games overly long cinematics I still think it was awsome. |

Awomse opening missions are a massive let down Im sorry but going to disagree with you there. A video will be okay.
Next off I rather players make thier own OMFG moments in dust 514.
The 'I was there' holed up in a command center with only two of the surviving squad left and hostile squad outside trying to get inside to take it over, we're low on bullets health and no drop uplink. The control panel clicks and shows that it locking onto a titan in orbit thats about to orbitally strike the map. Reinforcements cannot reach uas as two Sagaris kept gaurd outside pummeling anything that got close.
Failure to hold this would mean we lose control of the orbital elevator and in turn the entire planet. Our home planet where our corp was first founded, forged, and fought for with blood sweat and tear. The time's ticking first wave of the hostiles flood in the remote explosive saw to them quickly. but they where sacrifical scouts. Then came in the heavy thuds of stormtoopers. Amarrian heavy suits built with close quaters weapons such as the HMGs and shotguns. We flung our grenades but it only tickeled them.
As plasma and lead filled the room we did our best to hold them off. Killing one the logstic suits repairing the heavy suits. One of squad memebers took out his last emote explosive ran twoards them and in his courage he out four of them leaving the two of them left I emptied out my breach rifle on the heavy only to strip his shields off. His HMG was burning red hot as the logstic suit quickly swerved around edge of the room to the control panel to bring down the command center. The heavy having no secondary weapon pulled out his knife as did I. We danced toe to toe swinging at each other, I see the command point's icon beginning to flash and knew time was getting short. The heavy was slow and managed to barely miss the armor only stripping some of the shields off I managed to get a lucky stab to his back and another before I knew it he was down.
I pull out my scrambler pistol and aimed carefully. The logistic hacking the control panel only manged to look up as four lasers bursted though is head, He only had a second to go on capturing the command panel. The tacnet AI accounced with some sense of unurgency. "Firing Orbital Defenses" and on the screen I can see that the Titan in orbit was no more but a burning pile of wreckage slowly drifting to the planet most of it will burn up only a husk will land. |

As far as immersion goes, only one single-player franchise comes to my mind, Homeworld and Homeworld 2. The music and Atmosphere was exquisite and sadly, because of corporate bullsh*t, they will never make another one. Much of the culture of Homeworld was very Eve-like.
Fitting for Dust and Eve
Edit: Even though the game is a steaming pile of garbage, TOR had some nice trailers too.

Homeworld is perhaps the saddest story of PC development. There can never be a 3rd. It was te best most complex RTS of our generation. Well, except Homeworld 2 :)

Most of their music is kinda depressing[Fade into You being their big hit], but yur, that works too.

Meh. It just came to my mind first. I updated the list several times infact. If I missed a game it's because, there are too many that fit the bill. Also it came to mind because, earlier in the day I had been talking to someone else on here and we talked about, Time Curry being awsome! |

The Eve trailers have always been damn good. Whoever CCP contracts them out to, or if they're made in-house, is genius. I still like the E3 2011 Dust Trailer. |
