Someone else has probably posted something similar to this in another thread, but to be safe I thought it would be pretty cool to introduce an explosive that creates a very bright white out to nearby players who are facing the flash. Not so much an explosive but a physical light source.
I can imagine many situations where this would save or ruin the day for players.
PhotonForce Flash Grenade. A Sturdy light beacon used commonly in the outer hulls of space stations has now been modified for combat use on the ground. The flash grenade upon detonation will flare a >brightness rating< for 3 seconds. This omni-directional light source will physicially blind onlookers allowing escape or tactical assault by ground troops |

Having some kind of EMP disruption grenade that interferes with the cameras on your Dropsuit (you may have noticed we don't have eyes) would work better, and they could make it less painful to look at than flash grenades usually are in games.
Also, I'd prefer smoke grenades.
Flashbang-style weapons have an instant effect on anyone in the radius, then it lasts for a specific duration.
Smoke grenades would have a gradually expanding area of effect, where everyone in the smoke would be operating at reduced capacity, AND anyone shooting INTO or THROUGH it for the duration of the effect will ALSO be affected. This would provide a lot more tactical options, and that's rarely a bad thing. |

The flashbangs would do nothing in this setting. The senses are artificial, so would be a cutoff to prevent damage to eyes/ears. So a flashbang would only blind for length of flash, like watching a video of one. The muzzle flash on a forge gun is probably worse then a flashbang grenade. And the muzzle energy listed for the tank turrets is around what the u.s. navy wants for a rail battleship gun.
EMP does damage to shields and armour(tiny robots and circuits embedded in it) in EvE, so a emp grenade would drop shields, and damage armour to a lesser degree.
Smoke would work, many different things can be called smoke. So, new Eden's weapons designers would just select the smoke that messes with dropsuit sensors best.
I suggest boranes for the smoke, highly toxic liquid burned to form highly toxic and corrosive smoke(dust suits are immune do to environmental systems. Smoke also contains sharp boron carbide particles, good reason for why sensors can't see through it. Borane boosted jet fuel was studied in 1950's, produced to much toxic smoke and wore out engines but produced 40%+ more energy. So grenade would make a small, very hot fire that gives off corrosive poison gas(the smoke was described as nearly as toxic as nerve agents) smoke with microscopic chaff. No thread to dropsuits, but don't use it in hostage rescue....unless contract said prevent the terrorists killing the hostages, then its fine if smoke screen kills everything, still get paid from loophole.
Boranes would also make good flamethrower fuel, if one is ever added. Burns hotter, and secondary smoke screen application.

Besides, team flash-bangs are freakin annoying. |

Renzo Kuken wrote:the assault drop suit may not have eyes but the logistics does Those are cameras, not openings to see with. And haven't seen anyone using Flux Grenades, but if they work like smoke, awesome.
