This is a futuristic space shooter. Are you trying to tell me they are still using blades this far off in the future.
Make it so we have to put 5 points into the knife to unlock it. It would make the scout suit actually fun to play instead of making the enemy chase me like we are playing ****** hero.

The Nova Knife already has a plasma edge to cut through stuff. Just look at the concept art on the main site.

I also thought of this before.
But then I realized it made no sense and we have seen one too many Star Wars rip offs in our life times. |

We're getting Laser Rifles because the concept of a Laser Sword makes no logical sense.
And how are you using a "metal blade" in DUST when everyone else gets a Nova Knife? |

Carrying a sword into a gunfight is a bad idea. You've got a novaknife. The "Nova" is there for a reason. |

I wouldn't be opposed to a "sword" version of the nova knife, as long as it takes up a primary weapon slot (light weapon). If someone wants to go that route and specialize in it, they should have to really commit to it and fit for it. It should probably be OHK against almost any scout suit (scout should have an easier time dodging), 1-3 hits against an assault suit, depending on how much tank you have on it, one hit for untanked or lowest level suits, up to three for some of the fully tanked builds. Bunches of hits against a heavy, because, lets face it, if you are going with a melee weapon in a gunfight, you are probably going to go with a scout suit, and you should be able to run circles around a heavy slashing away at him.
Many people don't want a primary melee weapon for reasons of "flavor", but I say, if it is properly balanced, and someone wants to dedicate a bunch of SP and a specialized fit to making it work, then let them have at it. |

EvE background says some amarians still train with melee weapons. Found it with google, Khanid sub-faction(amarr with missiles instead of lasers as favored weapon) cyber knights

So, laser sword's prospect not so good. Khanids have close ties to the caldari and there weapons show this, caldari share hybrid weapon tech with the gal., so Khanid melee will probably still be same tech as nova knife. So, nova sword not laser sword even for amarr. Minmatar had some crazy melee weapon hanging behind EvE avatars, this was said to have deep meaning to them, so it would make sense if some minmatar choose to wield it in battle. The extra deaths in battle could be an offering to the ancestors or something. |

as much as i loved some of your interventions, i got to say that all those swords, jetpack, flamethrower ideas are freakin me out. There's way enough firepower available at the moment and CCP's efforts should be about about improving what's already in instead of adding various new items, that are not especially usefull imo. |
