Well, I finally figured out that the mail is working in game and that I had about 20-30 unread messages.
So, why does this not tie into the psn, I had no idea I was getting mail in the game, no indicator, no highlighted indicator.

Where are the messages stored? How many can you have before it effects the system? Is this how it is going to be for release? |

Not sure if there is some indicator to notify u of new mail while you are in your quarters but its a good idea to check your mail on a consistent basis. Im sure the devs will work something out. |

In EVE you get a blinky blinky on the NeoCom when you get mail
I should say it used to haven't played in awhile so could have changed but probably not |

As for why this isn't tied into PSN...
Because its tied into something much better, and more relevant. Tranquility. |

This is still the case. CCP will probably make it the same for Dust eventually And, as above, the ingame mail system is, well, the in game mail system (aka EVEMail), and so not linked to PSN mails. This will most likely be one of your primary ways of communicating with other Dust/EVE players come release...along with the Chat. |

you can message someone on PSN playing another game on any game... no emailing someone on dust will not go to someone on psn. |

I think he means within the dust messaging system and the eve messaging system.
Leaving PSN out of it. |

At earliest it would probably be when/if the server is put on to singularity (the EVE test server) While it isn't, the architecture simply isn't there for the mail to be sent across. & even when it is, only EVE characters on sisi will be able to send mails to Dust. Tranq -> Dust will have to wait for release. |

Thanks for the replies, I was just curious what was going on and seeing if anyone else was using it.
I mean maybe the Star in the Box blinked while highlighted but I thought that was just for corp text chat. I'm not asking for the old AOL you got mail, but couldn't find much information about the process in use.
I forgot to mention that the system could use a tweak, give it a try for yourself and see if you don't send off a blank message because you have to pull up the soft keyboard and X button sends the reply. That is what happened to me, and to the people sending me the first couple of messages, so technically I only had about 15 of 30 real messages and I noticed some lag spikes in game when I had a friend send me a mail while I was in game, so much so that i restarted the ps3. The lag seemed to go away when I deleted these, but I am thinking that is just coincidence.
Since I am a Move User who is running out of usb ports on the ps3, I can't really slap the controller keyboard on it or plug in a usb and or bluetooth type, I was now wondering if anyone was using it on their controller? |

I actually check it very other day.
There needs to be notifications that you get mail and have mail.
I talk to some people i know with it.
I've gotten used to pressing square for keyboard. so don't matter to me if it changes. |

I send mail out any time I run across good and/or fun players. I find it a good way to keep track of people in addition to the basic contacts list. BTW, gangsta nachos, it was good to finally play a match with you after doing all the gabbing on the forums. |

It should be like when someone talks in your corp chat, the little icon starts blinking, In the case of mail have another icon pop up right above it or where ever the devs see fit. |

This actually raises an interesting potential idea, and even more PSN / Vita integration. It may well be theoretically possible to receive evemail notifications via PSN message. Would depend on Sony making the API available (which I'm fairly sure they already do, as games would need it for the messages they're already able to send, as well as invites). Would certainly be neat to get a PSN message with a transcript of the evemail I just got, letting me know i'm needed in Dust or EVE. It'd also open up on-call possibilities that only those alliances that have set up jabber servers really have access to in EVE.
This has some really awesome potential. |

I thought of other things, 4 years in multiplayer games has resulted in a full psn block list; which brings up an additional thought about the block list in game also not being tied into the psn block list.
Am I going to have to block the same usual suspects? Is there a limit?
Does forwarding tons of spam messages to the same player by thousands of people to effect their connection to the server count as a bannable offense or is seperated from the sony ps3 policy of no spam.... and I noticed that there is no report feature? And along those lines is it censored, and to what degree? What have they done with eve? It might not effect a pc when it gets in game spam but the ps3 is fickle about freezing for all sorts of reasons. |

I 'think' EVE has a 200 player (?) limit to the block list. On reporting, you usually raise a petition to CCP on the issue & details/the eve mail if theres need to.
To be honest though, I wouldn't be suprised if this is one thing that havn't actually given too much thought in to. I havn't noticed too much behaviour in EVE currently that would 'warrent' blocking in the same way people due with PS3 (insults, spam and so on). Usually people go their own way, sometimes jest with each other etc. One guy I get the off EVE 'nigerian bank scam' mail off, but I keep him unblocked cause I find it funny Nothing on the scale that I've seen on the PS3 in general though (i.e. those butt hurt kids who don't like that you killed them 'once').
But yeah, I guess we'll see. I wouldn't be suprised as well though that, if problems do occur, then they would have to apply whatever they do to both Dust & EVE, as Dust players will also be able to mail EVE players. |

TBH.... I didn't even realize there was in-game mail. Will have to check when I get home to see if anything is in there. maybe there should be some sort of notification icon. |
