I just want to preface this and say I know that not everyone is a fan of Call of Duty but please hear me out to the end.
Call of duty is the standard in FPS games and I think the primary reason is that it is easy to pick up and the controls are as responsive as you would like. In Dust I feel the controls are clunky; I am fighting with buttons to stand or squat or change weapon. Instead of the action occurring when I press the button, it happens about 0.5 seconds later and that is after I have mashed the button two or three times in an attempt to perform the action. This needs to be tightened up hard. The other piece that makes COD easy to play is the aiming and shooting. The zoom scope in Dust is difficult and fairly unwieldy I have found. The end result is that I can't hit anybody, why not use less zoom or at least give us the option? I was a pretty good player on COD and felt that if I was face to face with a guy I would win 80% of the time, here I would put it at about 20%; I feel that I have little control over the gun and where I am aiming the gun. Also firing from a distance is nearly impossible if the result is to hit someone else, even when using a burst technique. For these reasons I have found any other class not using an assault rifle to be fairly unwieldy.
Two things take too long: the first is killing someone just in general, and the second is the respawn time. The time it takes to kill someone may just be a product of the fact that I don't feel empowered when I'm running around and have a difficult time aiming and shooting, this can get better pretty easily I think if they tighten up the controls and made the game more accessible like I said above.
The respawn time thing drives me nuts firstly because I can't start the count down, then choose my load out, and secondly I can't easily look at stats while I am waiting so I sit there for longer than I feel like I should staring at the screen becoming very angry and frustrated. With the selecting which load out to use it should automatically select the one I used on the previous life especially given the fact that the count down doesn't start until after I have chosen, making me wait further.
BOTTOM LINE: If the controls tighten up to be as easy to control as COD I will play this game. If they do not and it continues to be clunky and I continue to feel like a weakling lacking control of my supposed super soldier and fighting with the controls I will not play this game. |

I do agree that the controls need tightening up but I don't think they will be able to get it as smooth as cod does, but yeah does feel clunky when ads, not so much firing from the hip tho, also you do alott more dmg with skills modules and weapons and dropsuits, but yeah ATM your at a massive disadvantage because of this. |

I had the same problems but there are two things that need to be stated, one is this is still BETA and things are being fixed as they arise and new things are being tested to repair or replace broken things. From what I have read on previous threads, things have gotten A LOT better then the first build.
The second point I would like to make is the Militia gear is meant to be crap LOL. As you unlock better weapons and armor and improve your character the game becomes a lot smoother. There are skills for every weapon and every category of weapon to improve reload, accuracy, kick back, and damage. Also as you improve Dropsuits you get more slots to put different mods on your character to improve survivability and weapon damage.
My suggestion is stick with it, improve your skills, and once you get to the proto level you will tell new people to no complain and skill up LOL :D |

That's not how a FPS should work, not even an MMOFPS. If Dust actually wants to attract a lot of players, they should give them a fighting chance against players with a lot of sp and good gear. Letting them have all the fun would encourage A LOT of people from getting to the point where they can start getting kills. |

Well for one this is a MMOFPS so it has the ability to improve your character. I am sorry but this is how Dust is set up and how it will stay. As for attracting new players. Well for one you are only seeing 1/10th of the total game if that. The main aspect of the game is going to be you getting hired by EVE players to take or defend a planet. As for the random matches, yes they are currently unfair and unbalanced but that is mainly do to the amount of players in the Beta atm. Also from what I read (not sure if this is fact), but we are currently getting four times the Skill Points per battle in order to test the game. What I do know is when it goes live, everyone's skill points and ISK will be reset back to new player and we will all be on the same playing field. |

Really my whole point is that with the controls being tighter I feel like I am in more control. Feeling like I'm in more control of what I can do is the only way I would have a chance against the really good/high level players. You can't deny that there has to be some skill aspect involved and for it to not just be about who has played the most and thus has the most skill built up. If I am new but good at FPSs then I should still have a fair chance in the fight. |

Then you missed the whole point. I was using COD as an example of how controls work and the feeling that the controls give you as a player. That's why I prefaced my statement the way I did because I knew some people would not be able to look past the big bad "COD" word if they didn't know it was coming. |

Oh Shane my first post was directed at you, my second was to the other guy. Yes controls are being tweaked as we speak and they will be adding Keyboard/Mouse in the next build, also they are perfecting the Move control. So they will have three control interfaces to tweak and refine before launch. |
