What is the added benefit of walking around your station, or walking around your merc quarters? Seems like it just causes more loading than needed, and acts as a time waster. Almost 100% of the time I have my menu over it anyways so I'm wondering why does it exist? Immersion? If so it's not exactly making the game feel bigger by keeping me in my bedroom. If CCP is reading this, I hope you guys have some bigger plan's with this, because as it is, its very pointless feeling, and a confusing distraction from the real game.
Otherwise, I'm havin loads of fun, looking forward to seeing more maps. |

I provides a depth of immersion towards the game where you can go to a computer screen to alter dropsuits fittings ect...
Yes you can do that with your menu but its not as fun as doing it in the War Barge.
Also when you walk around in 3rd person you get to see what your dropsuit is and looks like. Thats pretty cool. |

but walking around a room with EVE players is still absolutely boring gameplay. Now add the fact that no EVE player uses EVE voice, you won't be able to even talk to them. Where is CCP going with this? EVE players hated Incarna, why would Dust players like it? (not meant to be rhetorical, I actually would like to know why Dust players want/enjoy this, from a dev hopefully). |

I find it the opposite of immersive. I want to truly believe I am in a huge angry beehive of a universe. Walking around alone in my Merc Quarter's watching TV doesn't make me feel involved. It makes me feel isolated, and like I'm in a loading screen waiting for the actual game. Now if there was a window, say a window on the side of Jita 4-4, that let me watch EVE players undock while I'm waiting in a station? That would be immersive. I would look out that window and be like "Hey I'm in a space station with like a million people, AWESOME".
EVE players already threw the worlds largest virtual temper tantrum over the addition of Incarna, and walking around in station. Why is CCP repeating history? What don't we know? Why do kids love the taste of cinnamon toast crunch? Well I would love answers if any developers are reading.
Also just another side note, that "Draft Saved" message on the forums is really annoying, it moves the whole text box up and down like every 10 seconds, really annoying.

Now think about all the time developers are putting into this feature. Building 3d objects, texturing, animating, even animating the TV channels would take a couple days to do right. Now all that time: isn't being spent on the gameplay that keeps players playing. I'd just like to know if it is going somewhere, or if it's just an aesthetic placeholder for when you aren't fighting? |

I know there got big plans for the system with trying to let eve and dust players see each other. which can be a good idea if and when we want to be able to chat together in the same lobby/corp chat.
I say give them time to get things added and moving a long but I do like were there going with it, will just take time that's all :p |

Well I'm only coming to the forums to give my 2 cents because I'm a beta tester, and thats what we do, right? I personally just found myself confused as to why this is implemented again. I've already switched back to ship spinning in EVE, and I'm getting the exact same vibe from what Dust has going on.
I'd rather see EVE players in ships, than calmly walking around a station for no reason (because at this point there is no reason to walk anywhere, everything is already in the main menu). |

Well no offense but none of truly know what CCP is trying to do with their game. They aren't developing it with us, they are making it for us, because they are very nice and very attractive people.
But say your idea is implemented. EVE players and Dust players in the same room. Now what? |

You must be new here. EVE players didn't throw a tantrum because of Captains Quarters exclusively (there were a few that didn't like it, I'm sure), they threw a tantrum because they fuckingHATED aurum and cosmetic items when we were expecting to be able to walk around in bars and shizz.
There were also other things as well, but you aren't worth the time or effort. |

I love getting to walk around between matches far better than just having to stare at a wall of text, but if i wanted to see what my suit looks like I'd have a look in the dropsuit fitting screen, seriously at least add an fps option to the quarters and warbarge! |

It will, right now it shows an almost perfect version of a map from the last beta build. CCP is more worried about balancing guns than graphics at the moment. |

I agree that at the moment these things seem to be aesthetic placeholders and excuses to implement vanity item collecting that cost us aurum. I think what elements like this are truly trying to accomplish are some of those moments that we've all loved in our alternate realities of choice. Those moments away from the action when we see a protagonist in the mundane parts of their universe: Ender planning with fellow students in the mess hall, the crew of Serenity's highly individualized bunks, or of course the cantina scene in Star Wars. These locations, and the details within them give us a far greater sense of place than any battle can. They also allow us to interact in ways that we cannot while under fire. I want to sit back at a bar with a group of mercenaries after a victory and give a toast to the dead, I want a new player that I've invited to a planning session in my room to look at the wall and ask me where I got that trophy from. I want the ready room to go silent as a respected commander walks into the door.I have yet to see a game that really creates that sense of being there in these sorts of spaces . . . Its these details that can transform what we've accomplished from point scores into narratives. I feel like its a challenge that I'd love to see CCP solve. |
