While everyone had said how much more stable this build is over the last. I am still experiencing freezes every 3-4 games if nor more. i just had 3 games in a row freeze. I had to restart my PS each time. Each of those 3 happened right at the beginning of the game either while selecting a spawn point or just after spawning. I can still talk to people with the mic, but my screen is frozen and i cannot bring up the PS menu to quit game or turn off the system. This is the same type of freezing i was experiencing in the last build as well.
Any help and or solutions for this? |

I had the same problem but I fixed it and here's how. Also this assumes you have a heating issue like I did. Check to see if you have air flow from your unit and if its built up lots of dust. I'm also assuming you've got one of the older models of PS3. Does your unit also freeze on other high intensity games if you play them long and hot enough, like Fallout 3 or Dark Souls. If so you likely have a heating issue making parts of your hardware fail.
If you have a new unit or it doesn't match the other symptoms then I can't make any recommendations other then try a friends PS3 then remove the game to prevent breaking the NDA to whittle down your potential problems.
Before you do any of this make sure you are using the PS3 in a well ventilated area and at reasonable ambient temperatures. These things won't do much good if you play in a 103 degree hot house.
[I won't be held responsible if you accidentally break your PS3 trying to fix it yourself]
1) Have your PS3 cleaned Either take it in or do it your self but this is going to translate to actually taking the PS3 apart and cleaning everything out that comes out. 2) Make sure you have good thermal paste If you brought your unit in they will likely do this in conjunction with the cleaning if not I hope you know what you're doing. 3) If needed have YLOD fix applied to make sure everything has working leads. (This might be expensive but I bitched my way into them doing this for free after what they charged me for the other stuff) Seriously I don't recommend trying this one yourself. 4) If problem persists improve cooling systems with external hardware For me that was a high speed fan forcing air through the system hard and fast enough to keep the system cool working in conjunction with my houses AC. I considered modifying a mini fridge to cool the air around the PS3 using some computer fans and some careful cutting, but it wasn't needed.
I was able to get my unit fixed up over night and that plus a quick trip to pick up a 9 inch fan and I was set. |

Great suggestions thanks!
Smaller Model PS3, but got it just as they came out. Fan and vent seem clear of dust. But it was crammed fairly deep into my TV stand which has a back on it so not a lot of air flow. Also can get fairly hot inside we let it get into the 80s before we kick the AC on. So I've pulled it out to give it more flowing air around it see how much that helps. But I doubt i can convince my wife to let me run the AC just so I can play the PS3!
Thanks! |

You can always run a fan on the 'in' ports to see if that helps! |
