this is really annoying and I am fed up with throwing potatoes at my enemy.
often when mass driver, grenades or remote explosives hit a target at certain angle it deals no damage. you can easily reproduce this -with a CRUs when you throw a RE under the structure and detonate it => no damage -when you use grenades or mass driver on a target that has higher position and the grenade explodes below him |

+1... i have often done nothing with my grenades, and i flat out wont use the mass driver anymore until they are fixed, the gun would be awesome if it actually worked and had WAAAAAY more ammo |

Mass drivers should have tons of splash damage as that is what they show visibly but I have yet to kill a single enemy with one, even when hitting directly, and I've used multiple clips trying to kill just one enemy. I think the clip setup and everything is fine for the starting mass driver; just more power is needed. Afterall, if it does no real harm to your enemy, it can't really be considered a weapon, can it? As for grenades, I get quite a few kills with grenades. You do have to be pretty right on with them though but the grenade does have to blast through both shields and armor. Grenades are good. Just waiting to see different kinds. |

+1 cause of that :D hopefully they'll fix it by next months update I really wonder why this bug is still in. It exists since the beginning of the closed beta. |

I really wanted to use the Mass driver line of weapons as I tend to gravitate towards support style classes in all games that I play. The Mass driver seemed to be the perfect support weapon for my logistics character. However in its current form, it is really more of a liability.
The trouble is if you hit anything other than the ground or a player, the projectiles just seem to disapear. And if you do manage to score a hit, it seems rather ineffective.

I've had a few issues with this myself, and already posted in several threads about it (I remember trying to post in here last night, but the forums were derping on me pretty bad last night).
I've had times where 1 - 2 shots will kill me with a Mass Driver, other times where the shot never actually explodes (I see the projectile, then it vanishes without a trace instead of exploding), and still others where the shot hits the ground, and waits for me to dodge out of the way before exploding. |

Yes the grenades are a bit hit and miss half the time they dont seem to explode or do any damage, thats if you can actually get them to go where you want.
Is there some dark art to actually getting grenades to land on target? |

I can get grenades to (mostly) go where I want.
I'm pretty sure they pick up on your momentum in addition to the throw. If you're running backwards, they don't travel as far, and if you're running forwards they get a boost. I THINK you can curve them around corners by running sideways, but I've only done it once by accident, and I'm not entirely sure about what I think I saw there.
This is in addition to the usual "aim high, throw further" rule that grenades usually use in games (and real life). |

They usually work but i had too my times when i threw potatoes to a guy in cover or worse a vehicule. Nothing like an AV grenades turning out to be a dud... |

i did start to use the mass driver, but yeah it seems random. i sneaked up behind a guy and put all 4 rounds into his feet and he took hardly any dmg, now using an assault rifle :/ |

I'm hoping this gets fixed in the new build as watching opponents jump out of the way mid explosion and avoid all damage IS ridiculous. I like using my grenades but right now it's completely hit or miss. I've had granades dissappear after being tossed to exploding ones that were basically a "light show" for the oposition to "ooo and aahhh" at. I haven't even bothered upgrading my grenades skill because of this problem (why bother when they don't work properly). But as far as making mass drivers work, yes they should but the penalty for using them should be just as bad i.e. slower speed etc. I've been hammered by guys that just run around mass driving folk to death. It's become as bad as the dropship pilots crashing they're vehichle into objects to crush opponents. |

I don't know .. I don't think the splash registers quite right every time and it is tricky to score a direct with the mass driver but I went 10-0 in my first match with it (standard issue, in a militia assault suit). Shooting it at the feet of a an enemy that is in close range will only get you the splash damage (115 hp) which isn't going to kill anything except scout and militia gear unless you splash them with all 4 rounds. With only a 3 meter splash radius your not going to get them every time shooting at their feet. Hit that same dude in the chest and you will do considerably more damage (200+ for a direct hit).
Personally, I think (besides the wonky splash damage) that the skills for Mass Driver (weapon damage +5%) and Proficiency (5 or 3% can't remember now, bonus to splash radius) should be reversed. Its hard to get straight murder-death-kills with a standard Mass Driver but the assists from more splash would be nice with the early variants. I mean .. 3 meters give or take all the way up to proto is kinda lame. Would rather have splash radius than damage increase for my mass driver levels. |

I like them, but CCP needs to fix splash damage so that it works every time. |

My Freedom Mass Driver works well most of the time, now Im going for Heavy because of the bs with no explosions. |

I guess what I am saying is I am not sure the splash is actually missing? I haven't used the gun as much as some others so I will defer here .. perhaps what I am translating as a small-splash-radius problem is a splash-damage-doesn't-always-register problem.
Ya'll totally sure your not just missing sometimes because of the small blast radius? Anyone actually tested it on a standing target?

Remote explosives are ridiculously strong if used right, 4-5 of them will take out a Marauder with full HP. |
