Recently I've come across A LOT of repeat Topics and it's cluttering up our creative minds....
So I would like a Group Review button added to the forums. KEEP READING before you freak out :) thanks.
Basically it works like this. A bunch of people push a Review topic button and it marks the Topic to be moved to another topic. Which we the users could mark so all the Forum moderators have to do is move the topic indicated to the requested topic.
The reason this is a group effort is to avoid an individual person marking a thread for review and making the post go to one of their old posts just to get a reply instead of a more appropriate one. If we all basically vote to have one moved it helps get it to the one a majority of us are keeping tabs on.
I would also like some forum moderators to be added please. Mainly to help keep things organized within the forums so all the dev's have to do is get on check out our ideas, suggestions, and bugs then do whatever they need to do to make them a reality.
Dev's have a lot on their plate so if we can help organize their thoughts and all of that wonderful stuff then I'd be more than happy to help.
Also If forum Moderators are added and you need some volunteers. I'd be more than happy to help whip these forums into shape. Plus I'm going out of my mind (unemployed) so something constructive to do with my time would really help me out lol. |

or we could add a tag to similar post, and we could have multiple tag per post so the ones that cover multiple points would be appropritely represented. |

Great Idea! Exactly since some posts cover multiple things, having the ability to click a link that already has a deeper decision going on about that particular topic that was mentioned would be great.
Also the ability to add tags to posts might help. I've done searches to find something particular and couldn't even though I know I've seen it in here. |

If they are tagged you can come up with a Mindthread which incorporates the posts into mindmap nodes and creates an overview by colour or size on how largely discussed a tag / topic is. |

Brilliant.
From Wikipedia: A mind map is a diagram used to represent words, ideas, tasks, or other items related to a central key word or idea. Mind maps are used to generate, visualize, structure, and classify ideas, and as an aid to studying and organizing information, solving problems, making decisions, and writing. Other terms include "spidergram" and "spidergraph" (common in British English), but they can cause confusion with the term "spider diagram" used in mathematics and logic. Some academic research has validated their methods.
By allowing us to tag threads by their key subjects, the mind map would kind of build itself.
I like the idea, but I don't think it would provide much additional value to the forums.
It would be a first in gaming history though, a developer using its beta testers to brain storm and discuss gameplay mechanics and features in an adhoc way.
Could be really exciting. |

The majority of well-made forums include a "merge topic" function which can be used to combine multiple threads into one.
If someone's created a repeat topic that's covering new ground building from an older one, the two should be merged, and the titles of both referenced in the merged version.
Wouldn't it be more logical to use existing and familiar forum tools, rather than reinventing the wheel to get something that looks pretty, but is less intuitive? |

No, because when you merge the topics, all the content of both topics survives. Nothing gets removed, or changed (unless the mods edit the post independent from the merge). They just end up all in the same thread instead of having 3 - 4 threads on exactly the same topic. And if the threads are different enough to warrant separation, they can be left separate too. |

its not realy reinventing the wheel more like using the wheel to make heavy than air flight, it realy took off once it got started. |

Sometimes the wheel needs to be reinvented.
Imagine if we were still driving on stone wheels?
I think forums need a huge make over and overhaul. I know these are temporary forums but why not try some new stuff out?
Sure testing a forum and a game at the same time might get a bit confusing for some of us but honestly I'd really like to at the very least get some more tools. Then if they work out really well then they can be used in the final forum layout when the game launches. |

i thought i was only one getting tired of riding around on stone wheels.
i think being able to tag a thread and then linking similar or supporting threads together would be useful, if we ever get forum mods they could be doing this. |

Depends on where you seen it. If you see it under someones name or next to a topic in the forums then it stands for Game Masters. If you seen it somewhere else then quote the post so we can see what context it was used in. |

Right noww lock threads and strict moderation isnt a good idea the ability to link similar threads and tag them would clean up the forums alot, some of us forum goers are on here alot take some active forum goers and give them the power to manage the forums and link multiple threads to.help prove a point. And give all post the power to vote a thread to a certian type discussion, request brainstorming, nerf, buff, whine, and make it a meter/bar above the threads page showing which tag is more prominent via voting.
Clean up the feedback forum some more if nothing else. |
