Would it be possible for you to release a map editor so that we can build our own maps and submit them to you for checking and implementation. There's a lot of planets in Eve to maps for so this would make things go a bit quicker. |

Until Dust goes to pc, I doubt they will. Besides, CCP hired people to do the work for you. (P.s. Dust is using the Unreal Engine) |

The game is still being developed on PCs and then encoded onto the PS3 (this is my understanding of it anyway!). I am suggesting that the Devs release a custom map editor for Dust 514 utilizing the unreal engine that Dust 514 testers can have a play around with.
If the map editor were written properly then it would be easily implemented into the game once it has been tested by CCP for obvious bugs etc.
This suggestion comes in a bid to help the devs develop the game more rapidly. I am aware they are paying professsionals to make the maps for us but as it stands they are reading the suggestion forum and then working on a new map with those thoughts in mind. My suggestion cuts out the beginning of this process and just means that the devs are required to 'touch up' the maps they like best.
I have heard somewhere (I think it was at the fanfest 2012 keynote) that CCP would like to create a new map for every planet that Dust 514 will take place on. This is a huge undertaking and will take a great deal of time; furthermore (not to insult anyone) but the imagination pool only runs so deep within a confined group of people.
A map editor would hopefully create a large influx of user made maps that could be used for the huge number of planets in the Eve universe. Not to mention spaceship maps on titans etc. like I have seen suggested on the forums.
All this may help to reduce CCP's work load in the long run and provide for a more varied game. |

Developer Playstation Consoles probably.
And to the OP, no.
This game will be about persistent worlds.
Map editing would require a new world district for each new map. So I think its a bad idea.
Plus usually, people only made maps that would allow them to better camp or snipe. |

Not sure what you are trying to say here.
Watch the seeding the universe video from fanfest. IT says how they are doing it. And it isn't be crowd sourcing map creation to us.
So when the game launches there will be all temperate planets with an average of 15 zones (maps) each.
Then those will be littered with facilities and such that are random seeds.
Then players can place installations on them.
But the contour maps are all coming from some set of contour maps that CCP makes and seeds the universe with.
So I am not sure what you mean by your post. |

Go download Unreal engine. You now have the engine that CCP uses to build the game.
have fun. |

Not a lot of point if CCP haven't confirmed that they are onboard with the idea is there? Also wouldn't there be a need to customise it so that it fits in with the predetermined mechanics of Dust 514?

My point was that there have been many suggestions for maps on the forum.

Things like fighting on titans and on stations etc. keep cropping up and do not fit into the standard mapping model that you've pointed out (thank you for that by the way, I've not seen it previously +1).
The facility I am suggesting simply gives current beta testers a better way of putting their map ideas onto paper and could also help CCP along the way. In no way am I suggesting that this take over from current CCP plans for maps or that CCP should accept every user-made map that is submitted... I know my attempts would be pretty ****.
CCP could even turn it into a competition \o/ |

Ok, I get what you are saying.
I still think its not a great idea, but not as bad as I thought originally.

I think its a great idea, maybe CCP could have a competition and the best 10 maps could be included in the game. |

It would make the option of fighting on stations more of a possability without the need for CCP to make the maps. |

How about any maps that get made are constrained to arena mode. As in you built a space station to host this arena match in you get to edit it with your isk. |

Eve players will make the map when they build a structure in eve. All the maps will be different every time. Eve players who run player controlled structures decide how they are laid out on the planet an the the battlefield commanders from corporations will deploy Dust structures on and around the Eve built structure. You are thinking too small. We are battling for control of planets and solar systems not death matching on the same stupid maps. These maps in the beta are to test balancing issues and to test how to set up skill points and skill trees. |

I thnk you need to read back through the thread. The issue of this idea being imposed on the planet surface has already been discussed. We are now talking about the possability of players building maps for the stations in space or for battles on titan ships for example. |
