Seeing that this game is set far into the future, I was expecting more variety and creativity in the rifle variations. It would also me nice to have supportive type rifles aimed at the medic, seeing that class does not have a designated class rifle. Here are some suggestions that could also be adapted to grenades.
He3 Plasma Rifle When fired, a plasma ball of highly active hydrogen atoms collide against each other causing a reaction and creation of helium 3. This streaking sun ball would go down range and burn what ever it landed on. Plus, as an added bonus, it would have the same affect as staring into the sun, temporarily creating sun spots on the eyes of the unfortunate who gazed at it. This temp. blindness would last for ten seconds or so. The shooter would need to have a welders glass filter that would have to be activated once the weapon was fired so they would not blind themselves.
NeoMagnet Rifle When fired at ferrous materials, such as soldier armor or vehicles, the ferrous material would become hyper magnetized for a period of time. This would cause the affected to be instantly attracted to other magnetized items and or ferrous structures. Think about a team of soldiers getting blasted and they all are attracted to each other and become a ball of flapping arms and legs. Tanks could be locked to metal building or crates and possibly suck up soldiers who walked too close to it.
Electrogravitic Rifle When fired, the targets gravitational force is reversed, causing the target to float into space for a period of time. When worn off, the target would come crashing down.
Electro Magnetic Pulse Rifle When fired, the target area is affected by a pulse that overloads the electronics and cause them to fail for a period of time. If fired at a soldier, it would cause their whole system to go down and they'd only have their knife to defend with. You could also call this the caveman rifle, because it would convert the targeted area to the stone age. Melee anyone?
Tractor Beam Rifle When fired it would create a controllable beam where the rifleman could do anything with the targeted individual. Toss them high into the air to their death or place a team member gently on a rooftop. It could pull wounded soldiers across the battlefield to safety or pick up enemies and smash them against each other. It would have a lifting capability of 400 lbs., so it would have no affect on vehicles.
Dark Matter Rifle When fired downrange it would create an area of negative space. What was once positive is now negative, what was once adhered particles is now repulsed. Instant atomic separation awaits those who are unfortunate to be caught within its grip.
Again, this game is set in the far future. Lets see it in the rifle options. |

You obviously need to take a closer look at EVE Online.
They're going to, in time, bring basically all the tech from the existing game universe into DUST. |

True, I don't know EVE. I am a MAG player and I was expecting more than AR rifles and rockets. Good to hear. |

we will have Laser rifles soon... furturistic enough for you?
tbh yes its set in the future how ever if you know the EVE back story (very long so to sum up), basically humans developed worm hole travel and found a new star system called New Eden, but something happened and they ended up getting cutt off. so tech is very limited, and held by a race known as Jovian empire. (very mysertious people) who drip feed the oter factions tech to keep control of them. |
