Well there are more then enough threads about being rammed/smushed by dropships but I havent seen any about using LAVs/HAVs to run people over. I dont use LAVs, but doesnt anyone else find it odd that you cant crush/damage anyone using an HAV? It just seems odd that I can push an enemy all over the map in front of my HAV but nothing happens to him. I know the HAV doesnt move as fast as the LAV but maybe a damage over time concept should exist, because it makes sense you would get pulled or dragged under eventually.
As a side question, since i tend to avoid getting close to other vehicles, can HAVs ram other vehicles for damage? |

As a side question, since i tend to avoid getting close to other vehicles, can HAVs ram other vehicles for damage? Haven't done it much, but they certainly seem to be able to. A main tactic appears to be to ram the other tank to try and pick him up, so he can bring his guns around on you, since you're sideways with your belly being stabbed by his main gun. Rather annoying, really, and not really how a tank should behave IMO. The thing should stay on the ground, and they can shove and damage each other, but unless you're sticking out over a ledge and they come up under you, i don't see it making sense to have you get flipped over. |

Mmm, I agree that you shouldnt really be flipping multi-ton vehicles, at least without terrain helping, and ramming should damage both vehicles.
Something else for DEVs to think about is that even though the vehicles have armor and shields its kinda weird that shooting at the rear armor of a tank is the same as the front or sides. Tanks are (and should) always be tougher on the front then the rear and sides (maybe damage multipliers for hitting them in certain areas, 1x for front, 1.25x for sides, 1.5 for rear?). This could be used in conjunction with ramming (say ramming does 200 dmg to both but, since you rammed with your front armor to their rear armor, you take 200 dmg vs them taking 300 dmg)
This is all straying off the intended topic though of HAVs being able to run over people. It just makes sense that you should be able to grind over people/run them over with a tank. If its a speed issue then make it a damage over time solution to explain being slowly pulled under. |
