this thread is now a recipe thread
Apple Crumble
125g plain white flour 75g marg or butter 25g sugar (demerara if you have it) 50g porridge oats Peel, core and slice some dessert apples and put in the bottom of an oven proof dish. Get your children to mix all the flour, marg and sugar until they are like breadcrumbs or, alternatively whizz the mixture for 15 seconds in the food processor. Stir in the oats and put the mixture on top of the apples. Bake at 190 C/Gas Mark 5 for 40 to 45 mins.
Allow to cool slightly and serve with yoghurt, custard or creme fraiche.
Variation: Crunchy crumble topping
100g plain flour 60g butter softened 3 tbsp. pumpkin seeds 3 tbsp. sunflower seeds 50g nuts (macadamias, walnuts, brazils etc) roughly chopped - optional 50g porridge oats 50g demerara sugar Rub the butter into the flour as before. Stir in the rest of the ingredients and mix well.
