I said this before but I find the shooting mechanics in this game are kinda broken. It would be nice if they had iron sights and different hit detection, more fluid movement and overall a bit quicker gameplay, more like KZ3, but of course with the MMO part and the politics, economy and broader EVE game with the Dust universe.
I dunno dude, if CCP doesn't change something about the FPS mechanics I don't think this game will hold much more of my attention. Something has to radically change with the FPS mechanics which are not done well in my opinion. Once and if they are the game will take off like the Rubik cube in the 80s
In the spirit of constructive criticism, here is where I think improvements could be made:
- Add iron sights (the visor-scope thingies aren't working well and too slow to activate) or option for iron sights AND scopes - fix hit detection issues - increase fluidity of movement of character (moving around and running in this game feels so slow and clunky right now) - increase fluidity and responsiveness of gun controls (R stick) |

I guess the community doesn't feel this is an issue or this has been said over and over already... Oh well I probably won't invest much more time unless something changes with the FPS mechanics. It's a shame I was excited about the concepts behind this game... |

None of the EvE community realise how bad it is IMHO, or very few atleast. There is a lot of discussion about it. Balancing too. But we FPS guys just get told welcome to new Eden or adapt or die. I'll put a link to a long thread which gets a bit of everything thrown in.

The scope is fine to me. I agree with everything else, I don't want deaths to be nearly as fast as they are in KZ3, bullet damage should remain the same. I noticed when aiming down sight and firing, turning feels rigid. Needs to be smoother. There seems to be something off putting about shooting, maybe its the slow bullet speed, maybe its something else.
I'm an FPS gamer and generally find the shooting in Dust 514 to be pretty okay, I don't think its as terrible as some would say, but could use improvements. |

People need to remember that this game has about 5 months of fixing and tuning ahead of it. The game is barely out of alpha, and to me, works very well right now.
The shooting mechanics, I'll admit, do feel very stiff, but I link this to the games incredibly small field of view. I feel like I'm wearing blinders while playing.
Hit detection will improve with netcode improvement over time.
Iron sites wouldn't make sense in this game. Each race is so far advanced beyond the need for iron sites, they would seem very archaic.
Again, "Work in progress, does not represent final product". I have immense faith in CCP, they've managed to keep EVE growing for 9 years. |
