I believe these would be an awesome addition to the game. A vehicle with a large slab of metal in front of it. With 10's of thousands of armor points but almost none, or no weaponry. It would have applications for attack and defence. Attackers could use it as slow moving cover that while it could be flanked, would provide excelent cover from one side. Defenders could use them to block advancement routes or fortify objectives.
The usefulness would be increased of course with the addition of weapons. I would think no more than having some sort of small mg turrets or even just a few small Windows that the advancing infantry could fire from. With the addition of a roof, this platform could also provide a defence option against the orbital strike. As I can imagine some maps would provide almost no cover from the orbital bombardment. |

I like the concept of the vehicle itself as far as driving to get a bit closer to the obj, but being able to shoot from it would b too much. It should just be a transport nothing more. Good idea though :) |

Vehicles should be a Secondary aspect in a First Person Shooter.
for the most part i use the Buggys to as Blocking strategy to take an Objective adding weapons to it defeats that purpose. just look at the garbage that exists in beta currently |

I agree with not adding weapons to this type of vehicle. I should have made that more clear in the orriginal post. I was merely providing it as an option to consider, though i think it would make it overpowered. I have also used light vehicles and such as cover in other fps games. I just think that a purpose built, mobile blockade/cover vehicle suits the eve universe and its style. I should maybe also clarify that my idea is for a vehicle that would have one driver and no passengers. The infantry units would essentialy be running behind the cover of a large front section of the vehicle. Imagine a large snow plow-esque look. this would provide cover, but would also leave the infantry open to a well placed and timed flanking manuver. |
