The game does not support SDTVS and it hard for us players that don't have HDTVS to read the text in menu,store, others players names etc.Please CCP add support for SDTVS or make the text font bigger...Not everyone has HDTVS  |

As someone who did game for a long time on the 360 with an SDTV, you have my condolences. But we really do need to move on and continue to design around HDTVs. |

This. I really feel your pain OP, I just got my HD TV 8 months ago. So I know all about playing HD games on SDTV, this is not exclusive to Dust. HD TVs are pretty cheap these days, you can get a small one for under $200, and a decent sized one for under $400. If your current TV breaks, you will be forced to get an HDTV seeing as all TVs in stores are now HD TVs. It just doesn't seem feasible to code a game for technology that is no longer sold. I still have a VHS player, but I don't write movie companies asking them to keep releasing VHS. VHS is a dead technology much like SDTV is becoming.
OP get a big jar, every time you have any change (coins) throw it in that jar. In 4.5 months when Black Friday/Cyber Monday hits you will be able to buy a boss TV with your change. That's what I did :) |

SDTVs don't have 0ms response time, in-fact the way they works is an interlace effect for seperate frames.
So you're only actually getting half a frame every 1/60th of a second (approx. 16ms response time)
In-fact the only real benefit for SDTVs is that they support 32-bit Colour (4billion) over 24-bit Colour (16million) along with greater Constrast Ratios (i.e. no dark and light banding issues) ... they also have a nice natural aliasing effect from the Interlace and CRT setup. Still imo these are not enough of a benefit over a HDTV.
While I will say that as far as TV goes, no HD over SD is barely noticeable and not really worth the upgrade; when it comes to consoles / computers. Higher Resolution, Widescreen and fast Response Time (for better Hz output to reduce eye strain and headache related to lengthy gameplay sessions) are benefits that far outweigh the shortfalls. |
