Sounds like the sort of problem forge guns and swarm missiles are intended to fix. Which isn't a criticism of you if you aren't a heavy, it's just yet another thing that will be helped out when we get some teamwork features in place.

This is the problem that is remedied, with two words. RAMMING SPEED. Bull rush the dropship of the building and watch it fall to the ground. If that doesnt work then jump out kill all red dots and then steal the dropship.

I did this for an hour or two last night.. and in an 18/0 kill/death game, I only had 1 intelligent attempt to kill me. It's really not that hard guys. Get up there unnoticed and blow the thing up. Forge it, swarm it, grenade it, demo it, something. This game isn't all gunplay. Kill them enough times to make it ineffective for defense of zones and people will move on.

I use swarms on my scout all the time. There's no excuse for not killing them. It's a tactically strong position but easy to counter when you make the effort.

are you talking about spawncamping? the solution for spawncamping is uplinks. They can't kill everyone and once you get one up, the problem is diminished. They can spawncamp from anywhere.

First there was just one ship up there and we killed it
THEN we started to lose 2 objs so we were forced back to 1 obj 1 uplink and base spawn.
next they had 2 ships up there just chillin and shooting(but they missed so we didn't attempt to take them out)
BUT THEN one guy wanted to play hero and go up there with his dropship, turns out he gets up there jumps out gets shot, killed, and his dropship gets HACKED
Now we have no objs, the guy with the uplink quit the match and we were being spawncamped

Not to sound obvious, but take the time to make several variants of your dropsuits. Even if you use the militia dropsuits and modules you can make a logistics load out with a drop link so you can place the drop uplink anywhere you please. That is one of the key points to winning an ambush match, place a uplink in a place that has cover but close enough to the battle so your team mates can get there quickly. I for one hate random spawn points. For the drop ships sitting on top of the buildings get a swarm launcher and find a place with cover to launch your attack. A little teamwork goes a long way in this game and gets you more rewards in the end.

Swarms don't work. They go directly for the target, so unless you're on some pretty high ground, good luck.

You guys have been using the "when teamwork comes in" argument for 3 builds now. Teamwork was supposed to come in once they gave us groups at least that's what the people who use the teamwork argument said anyway...

How many more teamwork options do you need! There is grouping and voice chat if you can't coordinate with that or you feel like you need something more then you are doing it wrong!

Even if you're only in a 4-man squad, you can still jump up to Team chat and coordinate with the whole group.

well just get a forgegun and put them off the building problem solved. You can be happy that the draw distance has beeing increased otherwise you would get shot by something that you cant even see. Or pick up a sniper and shot them out of the gunner seat. Your choice how to get rid of them.

RDVs can reach anywhere that you can. He flew up there, knocked the Dropship off to make room, and called in the HAV.

I agree this is irritating, but all part of the game. There are many counters to this though.

 1. Sniping the gunner out is an option, but you run the risk he has an uplink up there (they always do) and will just return in 10 seconds.
 2. Forge gun from the ground. You can hit the ship protruding above the roof line. A swarn won't work because it targets the vehicles center of mass which usually ends up clipping the edge of the building. ( i think this is a problem that needs to be addressed. If i can shoot it line of sight, the swarms should be able to hit it, but i digress.
 3. Fly a dropship up there and drop out an AV guy. It only takes two people. We have enough team support for that already and there's no excuse not to do it.
 4. Ram him with another drop ship.

 5. This is my favorite for the fun involved. I've been known to call in my own cheap dropship, fly up there above him, jump out of my ship onto the roof (throwing away my ship). From there you can swarm him and his ship to death. If he takes to the air, you'll probably kill him in the air. If the guy panics and gets out to stop you he may forget to change to the other side before getting out in which case he'll likely fall off the building leaving you his ship. (hilarious). If he does remember to switch seats before bailing you've already dumb fired a swarm or two off. He then has a 50/50 shot at killing you, or dying and you getting his ship. I'll happily throw away 150K of cheap dropship just to have a good time. It also makes them think twice about doing the same thing next time they see you on the other team knowing you are unpredictable and a little crazy.

There are plenty of ways to counter these guys if you put your mind to it. Don't get angry, get even, and have a good time doing it!

I lost a dropship to a guy rooftop sniping with a swarm launcher. I couldn't hit him with turrets (although I killed his dropship) so I flew my dropship jp behind him, landed on the roof, and hopped into a faction turret to shoot him. Dunno how he failed to notice me.

As a tower camper with my DS I can easily go 29/0. But I get owned when there is a smart sniper, forger, LAV driver or DS pilot/gunner on the field. Swarmers don't do anything because most of them try to hit me from the ground, the building walls will shield me due to the missile flight path. Here's how to kill me:

Sniper: Squat and aim at me at the turret control, once your dot goes orange, fire.
Forger: Aim for the roof of the dropship, so it doesn't hit the tower walls
LAV: drop an LAV far away but in sight of the dropship, aim 2 mil dots above the roof, fire till you see cross hairs flash orange on hit. If you try to aim with orange dot you will hit the walls of the tower, aim above to hit the DS roof.
 HAV: same as LAV
DS: DS pilots can do many things like; Drop fighters on opposite towers and SL, forge or snipe me, ram my DS, float above and hail lead on my head or land and jump out and AV me.

Quite frankly, I'm a sitting $240K ISK duck, ready to be shot. So stop your belly aching and kill me already.

EDIT: looks like SYST3M 0V3RL0AD beat me to the punch...

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Tower camping rocks and is the furthest thing from cheap. It costs 151-330 thousand Isk to be "cheap" likethat. You dnot like it? Spend some of that Isk your hording on taking me out. It can easily be done if your not stupid. How dare I have the audacity to use cover to my advantage!!! By that logic I have a few complaints:

 People can hide behind cover
 Tanks can hide behind cover.

 That is all.

I haven't really noticed it as a problem in this build. Now that they can't get so high up that their rockets don't render properly and you can't even tell what direction they're shooting from, it's not as annoying.
