Its only a relatively cosmetic issue, but I was shocked by the fan noise that Dust 514 instigated on my PS3. Nothing I've played before was as noisy as this - to the extent that it was quite a distraction.
Could be unique to fat 40gbs, but either way it's a bit of a pain.
Really want this game to work well - its a fantastic idea. |

I've got an old phat as well. Tends to get loud on any major game. (Hell, some arcade games cause it too.) I wouldn't worry about it, it's a design flaw of the fans. |

I've noticed that my old 60GB fat (EU launch version) tend to get very loud as well during battles. Part of it is age and dust (literally), part of it is that it does produce a LOT of heat running modern/demanding games. That said, mine have never been the quiet type. |

Cheers for the replies - I feared that was the case, I'll get the Hoover on it just in case and think about getting a slim!

Just get a Slim before the Fat dies. Otherwise you can't transfer anything without repairing the old console. |

My fattie is 40gig stock with a 320gb... I wanna say Seagate... upgrade. It is noisy, but it's done this with other games, Skyrim seemed to be most consistent. So long as it doesn't overheat, i'm fine. Try taking a can o' air to the vents, as fats seem to draw more dust than your grannie's antiques. Otherwise, just keep an eye on the temp. |

I used to have a fat and it died on me after a few years, I recommend elevating it on something to keep it cool personally...
In some pictures I've seen online, people have used canned food. I have a friend who uses a cookie baking sheet or something like that to keep his laptop cool. |

Had the same issue but after I bought a can of pressurized air and used it to "literally" blow out my PS3 the sound dropped whit over 60% and I have no more hard crash. |
