A few IRC patrons and I were discussing about the new build the "chevrons" aren't appearing when you have LoS on a target. It seems to not really depend on distance either considering I tried sniping a team member in the back of the head while he was manning a turret. This happens at random, with some players having chevs and others onscreen do not.
Also, the life bars while this is happening don't appear either for almost noone at all. or appear white for both team and opponents.

At a distance the current reasoning is that they are too far away to be registered. If they are far away and have a marker, its because they got close enough to an ally for their system to mark them up, not yours.
So you can think of it like every character has a bubble around them, where if an enemy does something within this it, registers to the collective map grid. Enemies can prevent themselves from being marked by sneaking or staying out of sight of an enemy player.
Anyway, if you don't see a marker on a player, swing your cursor over them, the middle of the cross-hair will turn red if it's an enemy. |

I've been having a lot of trouble with this as well... grey guys at insanely close distances. Vehicles too.
I do most of my work at max distance, and I'm seeing Chevrons in the distance with clearly visible enemies unlabeled up close.
Oh well, at least friendly fire is off for now... I'd have the TK's stacked up like firewood. |

I completely understand what you're saying. But it's still slightly off putting to do this on the fly. Without a good indicator sometimes I end up shooting friendlies. |
