So I was in this match where a decent number of us were on mics, and we decided to make our own squad. Having never done it before, I said sure and defected from squad 0 to my own, new squad 2. I closed the chat screen and went to hide out for a moment in the shade of the building by B, and froze right when I pressed Select to check the squad status. I vaguely remember there being chat window freeze issues before, but figured it couldn't hurt to post about it |

I froze within 2 min of my first two matches in the new map. I had just restarted my PS3 then got into DUST514. Then froze shortly after I spawned. Restarted got back in DUST then froze again within 2 min. Any suggestions would be nice. I would imagine the reason for only 2 servers with the same map is so we can help find bugs faster but perma-freeze is preventing me from playing at all since no other options are available for game selection. |

Happened again only thing I can think to do is to delete it and re-download the entire game. First 2 times I was sprinting when it froze the last time i was walking and got shot turned to return fire and froze.
My PS3 is an old 80GB version with an updated HDD with 500gb of space on it. I can't remember all the specs for it but if you deem the information necessary I'll pull it out and take a look. |

Still having freezes, maybe not as many, but they're still there, in game and in menus, right now I'm "frozen" at the "Establishing Uplink" screen, doesn't seem to launch the game... |

I'm getting freezing issues myself but I've taken some steps to try and fix it.
First let me ask how old your system is because that might be the problem. I got my PS3 within a month of launch and it hasn't been serviced since.
Because Old PS3s tend to freeze up in general as they get older I'm trying to work on a fix for that. I'm using the cloud saving to move my save data to the PSPlus cloud in preparation for a reformatting. Then I'll try a second method for reformatting and if that doesn't work I'll either be buying a new PS3 or having this one overhauled.
I think it might be a system age thing because my friend in the beta with a newer PS3 has only had his system freeze once inn the month or so of the beta he's played versus my 4+ times a day. |

it's about 5 years old I think i got mine like right after the first price drop. I have a newer one as well but the blu-ray drive on it is already messed up. I might just download it on the Newer PS3 I have since everything on it is still good beside bluray drive. |

I'm downloading it again on my other ps3 that hasn't been used in like a year. It's 3 years old. I'll let everyone know how it goes and I'm probably going to post all the information for my old ps3's HDD. RPM's and all that good stuff. I'm also going to delete it from my Old PS3 once it gets downloaded on the new one if it works better then I'm going to redownload it on there as well. Hope it helps if not... ... ... ... |

Ok first I did download it onto my other PS3 and wow does this look amazing lol. Great job.
First thing i noticed was there was only one download, didn't have to do a second download or a 3rd which was very nice so thanks for that!
Next thing i noticed was the file size from the version that is on my old PS3 is larger than the file size on my Slim PS3. 2784 MB on the old PS3. 1965 mb on the newer PS3. The simplest answer to this is I didn't have to download the previous maps that are still stored on my Old PS3. The more complicated one is that older PS3's need a bit more code OR for some reason when I updated it didn't delete some of the files that were replaced. (which could explain my freezing constantly problem but i doubt it)
So before I delete and replace on my old PS3 Dust files just wanted to see if the Dev's wanted me to do anything if they wanted to know anything. Just let me know if i don't see any posts from ya in here about it I'll just go ahead and replace it in a couple days because for some odd reason my headset will not work with my newer PS3 despite my best efforts. Hope to hear from you soon so I can do whatever deeds must be done thanks. |

Mine's barely over a year old so I'm pretty sure age isn't an issue with me. I'm almost positive it was something in the game itself or the servers |

Well perhaps deleting Dust then re-installing will help you. I know the PS3 i just put it on runs it great with little to no problems. So I'll probably re-download it on my other PS3 as well then I'll let everyone know how well it works. |

I'm doing a reinstall too and failing that I'm bringing it in to have it cleaned and maybe the thermal paste replaced in case that helps. |

Having freeze problems as well on an original PS3. I have plenty of HD space left 46gb. Haven't tried to re-download yet. Time in battlefield after spawn can be 30 seconds or even 5 min...but it seems to inevitably crash.
Other areas of the game work great. |

I'm getting tons of freezing issues as well.... I can hardly play for a few minutes if I am lucky. I'm on the older PS3 model so I hope this can be addressed. I can see this turning into a flame-fest if the game releases in this state, and that would not spell good news for the potential fanbase.
Also, this is practically robbery for the people who have payed to gain access to the beta through PSN. I suggest adding a WARNING to potential buyers for those who own older models of the PS3. |

Ok so I've got a theory on why this is happening and on what we need to fix it.
I think its a heat issue and not a software issue.
I've reinstalled dust and it didn't fix it. I've FORMATTED my PS3 and that didn't help either. My room mates say that the PS3 does this every so often for Dark Souls and I remember it happening a few times playing Fallout new Vegas.
I think because of those experiments that DUST is pushing our systems hard enough that the heat build up is messing with it's systems. This is what causes the YLOD in PS3s and most of us having old systems would account for our fans being half burned out or out thermal paste being spent and needing to be replaced. Those of us with slightly newer systems might not have their systems properly ventilated.
I'm going to be taking my PS3 to someone to get it 'fixed' for about $30 today or tomorrow. Making sure the heat sinks and fan are running properly won't be that hard for them to do. Should that fail it looks like I'm going to have to pay the $100 to have Sony send me a refurbished PS3 in exchange for my old one.
I'll keep you guys posted if this works. |

Had some guys clean a bunch of gunk out of my system and replace the thermal paste and at first I thought it worked. Then I got a few minutes in and my PS3 hard froze again. Getting it cleaned out cost a lot more then the $30 their website implied it would too. It froze a second time too almost right after I joined a match so that supports the overheating theory I guess. I'll try to set up some fans to improve air flow. |

Good-ish news everyone! I fixed the problem by way of both the cleaning I had done and forcing air flow through my PS3. I've got a high velocity fan set up to force extra air though the system and that plus the repairs seems to have done the trick. |
