I tried many names, things like "The Terminator" and similar cheesy names, and the name creator kept giving the "name is already taken" message...so going by that, I thought: there's too many good names already taken! ... ... ...  
So then I tried something like this name I use now, amazingly it was at the limit of characters a name could have, so I thought it was perfect, kinda on the funny side aswell... I've received a couple of messages from other players aswell, saying something like "LOL nice name man" and "haha funny name :)". Of course there was that one guy, there's always at least one, who said "what a stupid name" but I guess he was just salty because I killed him that match...kek
How'd you choose your names?
I'm just trying to start a conversation here...I'm bored to bits at the moment, but Project Cars 2 is coming out next week, then I won't be bored.

I figured that. Anyone who has ever tried to find a good character name in DUST or EVE knows exactly why you chose the name you did. We can all relate!
When I first started playing EVE I had a similar experience, so I decided to pick a character name that sounded like a real name, but was not a common name, rather than trying to go with something cleaver. I chose Renier Gaden. It just sort of popped into my head, and felt right. I had never heard the name before, so I figured no one would have it.
Once I had a unique family name for my character, it was easy to get new character names as long as I used the Gaden last name. So I used that convention for my main DUST characters.
Also, my other DUST main, Crash Gaden, reminds me a bit of Flash Gordan. (Crash was origionally meant to be my pilot character.)
Hand/Eye coordination cannot be taught. For everything else there is the Learning Coalition.

Speaking about names which games choose for you, there was one in a racing game I played called Kaido Racer 2...
The name was "Kamikaze Evolution" and the game gives to you if you keep banging into walls at full speed, otherwise known as wallgrinding.

I just wanted the most quad-feed aesthetic and easy to remember name there could be, rather than FW lore scrubs with latin/roman names like Julius Maximus.

I was just messing around with my name when I made it! Honestly because I never thought I would come to play it everyday for over 2 years!

Yeah...
I saw the Minmatar face. I saw one eye, and I immediately recalled "In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king."
I would probably have picked a different name had I known better, but it was pretty well stuck by the time I realized the double entendre.

I appreciate Vahzz' redub to 'Master of practicing' however, or my PSN. I'm so pissed off tho, I squaded with O.H. (Frekin MOODY) and co. and Moody recognized my name from forums; and my bad gameplay so they joked around a little bit. I completely missed my opportunity to say,
'But you HAVE heard of me.'
Never was able to squad with them again.

Asakura was the name of a friend I had in EvE Online, Priscilla Asakura. When it came time for me to think of a name other than "Nalianna", which I couldn't have because, well, I was already on the system, then I just went with Asakura, and picked a first name that sounded reasonable with it.
In Valkyrie, I have discovered I can have the name Nalianna again, presumably indicating that the database character and account records are different from those in EvE Online, even if they are on Tranquillity. But I will have a problem with either Nalianna or Alena Asakura if and when they finally implement something I read over at the Valkyrie forum - "EvE Forever". Apparently this would allow all New Eden characters to log into any of the games with the same record. I'll be in that. I will then probably be Nalianna across the board... :) |

My main character was "Sequal Rise". The name Sequal comes from the FF8 main character Squall and I just liked to pronounce it differently. It's my go to name on any game. Rise was just a random addition because I thought it was NEEDED to enter a second name..
Now this account, Sequal's Back, was created only for the forums after the Rise got banned for random ranting.

I picked my current alias to mock myself and because I was quite immature at the time (though I am still considerably immature). however my original alias is "tanman" I had named it based off of my demographics. Since I live in the southeastern united states, I thought, what traits do rednecks have? a red neck? so I put "tan" as in, sunburnt, and man, because somehow I thought I was a man, even though I was a little boy when I came up with the name. though nowadays i'll just use that name, or slam my fingers on the keyboard and accept that as my name because I am too lazy to be creative enough to come up with a name. |

It was the motorbike i had when i downloaded the game, i remember in chrome there was a guy from GAC named KTM 690 and i used to find him a lot of times; my vehiculist alt was first a joke to a friend as his character was Horizon Limit i named it H0riz0n Unlimit cuz...i had no limit lol. It was pretty cool spider tanking with him pre 1.8 people were going mad understanding who was killing them
